Hi 🙂 Time for the next review! As I just started receiving Netgalley ARCs for this blog, you will see several in the coming days, but I always try to include some of the books I read just for fun (and though I don’t read very fast, there are still quite a few of those as well). Like “Different Strokes”, this is one of the books Brandilyn already reviewed, but I hope you won’t mind seeing a different perspective of the book 😉
The Facts: ARC; Released by LT3P on December 18th, 2013
The cover: I think it works really great for this book. You see the typical holiday stuff identifying that it’s about Christmas, but then you see the condom wrappers and you know it’s not your typical holiday fare.
The title: In combination with the cover, the title alluding to the famous Christmas song referenced in the book works like a blurb tat doesn’t have to be read. Readers get the basic idea, just by looking at the book.
The story: So – Brandilyn’s review made me curious. I love not knowing what to suspect and being surprised by what happens. With all these Kitschy holiday stories released, that follow the same pattern, this one actually seemed fresh, naughty and entertaining, even while the plot was OTT. I actually thing it would have helped the book a lot if everything that happened was for a greater purpose, because then it wouldn’t have seemed quite so unreal and would have gotten an even better rating from me. But as I’ve said before, I’m usually easy (pausing for jokes to die down). As long as a book entertains me, I won’t give it a bad rating and this one made me smirk and smile and laugh and continuously surprised me. It actually kind of bothered me that the condom in a jock strap can’t really be sung in the referenced song (though every other present could). But this short gem really made my train ride home fun and I can absolutely recommend this one 😉
