Not every book is going to appeal to every individual. The same can be said about reviewers. Just because we are given a book to review, doesn’t mean we are necessarily the right person to review said book. That is what happened with Wrapped in Leather, and how I ended up reviewing it. I am actually glad that happened, because I quite enjoyed the story and was introduced to a new to me author at the same time.

From the Publisher
To celebrate his decision to take the next step with his boyfriend Ian, Toshi Baylor plans a romantic evening at their favorite steak house. Toshi starts the special weekend with a bang by surprising Ian at home with lunch. There’s a bang all right, but it’s between Ian and another guy.
Jase Taylor’s auto repair shop and the BDSM club, Wrapped Up, keep him busy while he waits for Mr. Right, instead of Mr. Right Now. He’s a Dom, but playing with the club’s submissives isn’t providing the usual stress release. After a day from hell, he deserves a good meal at his favorite steak house.
Toshi and Jase find a mix-up with their reservations: a table for Baylor, not Taylor. When Toshi invites Jase to dine with him, they discover a mutual affection for leather and a shared belief that trust must be earned.
Before they can explore their common interests, Toshi suffers a series of attacks by vandals. Jase’s protective instincts kick in, but both wonder if it can lead to anything permanent.
Toshi is in a 6 month relationship, but he knows something is missing. One fateful day, he discovers what is missing is his boyfriend, who has apparently been cheating for some time now. After cutting loose the cheating boyfriend, Toshi isn’t really looking for someone new. However, someone just perfect for him happens into his path. They start a tentative, but hot affair as Jase slowly introduces Toshi to a world that has always fascinated him, the leather and BDSM scenes.
For a book about the BDSM scene, I would actually call it BDSM-light because it is more about the dominance and submission side of the relationship with some light bondage and impact play. Toshi is a bit of a “brat” by D/s standards, but that is exactly what Jase wants. Someone to dominate sexually but will give as good as he gets in all other aspects of life. If you are new to BDSM fiction, it might be a good place to start.
I think the author could have done a little more on the stalker and ex-boyfriend angle, and some of the situations had be rolling my eyes because they seemed a bit too contrived. Overall, however, the story was enjoyable and kept my interested and wanting to know what was next.
