‘I have to admit I was drawn to Sara York’s Novella by a cover, which pictured two of my favourite things, a sexy male and a cup of coffee.’ Review by Beverley J.
Author: Sara York
Rating: 3 of 5 stars
When Matt Wilson is dumped on Valentine’s Day he never expects to find love again. His bakery is enough, until Robert Baxter rolls into town and show him what love really is. But Robert doesn’t live in New York full time and he and Matt struggle to make a relationship. Can love win out in the end, or will their relationship be just another sweet happening in Matt’s life.
Matt is cheated on by his partner of four years, with the stock boy at his bakery/coffee shop, Sweet Happenings. To make things worse it happens on Valentine’s Day and he was going to propose…
Sara York’s ‘Sweet Happening’s’ delivers what it promises in the title, and presents the reader with a short, sweet story about real love versus ‘making do’. The sub title could be, you can never have too much cake! Matt’s terrible Valentine’s Day leads him to meet, fellow loser in love, Robert Baxter. Robert is handsome and successful and when he arranges for Matt to create a cake for him and seven hundred people, Matt and Sweet Happenings pull out all the stops. His amazing cake ends up earning Matt more than just appreciation for his baking.
In addition to a sweet story there is a recipe for Sweet Happenings’ Chocolate Therapy Muffin, which I can’t wait to try.
I would like to thank Sara York for providing me with the eARC of this title in exchange for my honest opinion.
