Sometimes the thing you hate the most takes you to the love of your life.
Dire Wolf Shifter, Angel, may be the youngest of four brothers, but that doesn’t make him the stupidest. He knows that Valentine’s Day is nothing but one big joke. It’s just a way for candy and card shops to make extra money. How does he know this? Because there is no such thing as true love. Every man he’s met has proven this by stomping on his heart, leaving him bitter and jaded. Fellow Dire Wolf, Baily, has always had a crush on Angel, but he never acted on it. As one of Angel’s older brother’s best friends, Baily had never thought the time was right or appropriate. But as he sees Angel hurting, Baily can’t stop himself from reaching out to the younger man. Will Baily be able to show Angel that there is such a thing as true love? Or had Angel’s heart grown too hard?
The Dire Wolf Who Stole My Heart is a cute wolf shifter Valentine’s a Day novella that tells the story of Angel, a fair, smaller wolf shifter who is jaded about love and is anti-Valentine’s Day, and dark, gorgeous Bailey. Angel and Bailey have both secretly longed for each other, and Bailey chooses Valentine’s Day to show Angel his true feelings.
Stephani Hecht’s story is entertaining, and Angel and Bailey are quite cute together. I enjoyed their banter back and forth, and their intimacy was both sweet and sexy. I also thought the subplot of the recognition of their group of wolves as a pack, and the reintroduction of the “old ways” of wolf shifters was interesting and unique. However, I was a little bugged by the speed with which Angel and Bailey’s relationship sped from first date to mating.
Overall, The Dire Wolf Who Stole My Heart is a cute, easy read that offers little angst that is quickly resolved, but is sure to please anyone who enjoys a sweet, paranormal shifter story.
I would like to thank MLR Press for providing me with the eARC of this title in exchange for my honest opinion.
