Title: The Price of Everything
Author: D.C. Williams
Publisher: MLR Press
My Rating: 4 of 5 stars
From the Publisher:
A chance encounter with a college acquaintance leaves Paul Willauer questioning everything, from who he is to what he wants from life.
New attorney, Paul Willauer stops into a local bar for a bite to eat after work and runs into an old college acquaintance, Quinn Fitzpatrick. Paul thinks an encounter with Quinn will satisfy his curiosity about being with another man, but instead he finds himself questioning everything he’d thought about who he was and what he wanted. When an episode of violence threatens to shatter the fragile love that has grown between Paul and Quinn, will Paul walk away or choose to stay?
This is the story of Paul Willauer, who is unsure of his orientation and Quinn Fitzpatrick his old college crush holding his hand and showing him the way out of the closet and into the future they both deserve.
What I really enjoyed about this book is that the author didn’t pull any punches. For once, you get to see the cold, unfeeling side of when someone comes out to their loved ones. The bigotry and hatred when one of the men is targeted for hate. I will tell you this is a wonderful book that made me cry and made me laugh through my tears. It is a story about Paul and Quinn leaving their pasts behind and finding there happily ever after. A definite must read.
I would like to thank MLR Press for providing me with the eARC of this title in exchange for my honest opinion.
