My Rating: 3 of 5 stars

From the Publisher:

He needed a job — he never expected to need his boss.

Thomas’s life can be pared down to one principle: Be as successful as possible by being as single-minded as possible. But his commitment to his goal is tested upon returning home to his mansion and finding his gorgeous new gardener in his library.

Luke is a student, and his new job is perfect: decent income and a place to study that’s quiet, peaceful, and stocked with useful resources. The last thing he expects to find there is a stunning man who offers to open up all the doors that Luke has yet to be brave enough to peek behind.

Thomas is happy to wait for Luke to come to him, but when he does, Thomas has no intention of holding back…

My View

This story isn’t perfect.  First, it could use an American editor.  There were many instances of Australian versus US word choice.  I had no problem determining what was being said, but as the book was set in the US, they stuck out to me.  For example we don’t say “Uni” we say “College” or just “School” (and sometimes “University”).  The second reason that Too Busy for Love did not rate as highly is that I felt like I was missing something in the story.  I know this is a novella, but I felt a lot of the “meat” was missing from the story.   For example, I had no empathy for Thomas, because there just wasn’t enough there for me to know WHY he was like he was.   Also, there was too much insta-love and insta-forgiveness for my taste.  I need a reason why Luke forgave Thomas for being a douche, I never got that.

On a positive note, I did like Luke quite a bit.  Though, I had to question his judgment in his choice of partners.  Also, the initial encounter was a little unrealistic for me.  He was essentially a virgin (gay sex virgin) and that was never really taken into account.  Also, his sudden switch from straight to gay was basically glossed over.   That being said, the sex was hot, and as an Erotic Romance, that is the main point.

Too Busy for Love is a sweet, quick little Cinderfella story.  If that is your thing I would gladly recommend it.
