If you follow this blog you already know that I am a *bit* of a fan of JP Barnaby’s work. Though, I can not read everything she writes, I have the highest respect for her and her characters. That is probably because JP has respect and love for each and every character she writes, and it shines through in her books.
Author: JP Barnaby
Publisher: Wilde City Press
My Rating: 4.5 of 5 stars
From the Publisher:
Andy Finnegan is a six foot three brown-haired, blue-eyed, Mack f*cking truck. A former marine who spends his nights dancing for your entertainment, he has a dark side hiding beneath the beautiful veneer.
Sweet little Stefan is awestruck by the big, gorgeous dancer with the rock hard abs and the lonely eyes. Determined to see what lurks behind the perfect surface, he gets a little more than he bargained for.
Andy, himself, is loosely based on a the public persona of real-life porn star, Ryan Rose (that is him on the drool-worthy cover). He is loud. He is brash. He is unapologetic. He is sexy as fuck. He is also vulnerable and sweet and in need of love. He is find his pleasure through hook-ups and dancing. He has aspirations of a porn career. He just wants to pay his bills.
For a 14,000 word novella, there is an amazing depth to Andy. He has a dark side that makes him feel unlovable, unredeemable. He has a fun loving side that just wants to get laid. He has a hidden side that just wants to be loved. The story is told in third person from Andy’s perspective. You feel like you are in his mind. You feel his ego. You feel his strength. You feel his pain.
If you read and loved Charlie, as I did, don’t expect more of the same from Andy. Actually, that is true anytime you pick up a JP Barnaby story. Each of her boys is their own man with their own strengths and their own demons and their own loving author.
I would like to thank JP Barnaby for providing me with the eARC of this title in exchange for my honest opinion.
