Title: Cops, Cakes And Coffee
Author: Sara York
Publisher: MLR Press
My Rating: 3.5 of 5 stars
From the Publisher:
After Drake Knowles embarrasses himself in front of Adam Hughes he doesn’t see a way for them to ever be together, but sometimes laughter creates a bigger attraction than seduction.
Drake Knowles hides his sexual identity from his macho cop buddies. He doesn’t plan on stepping one foot outside of the closet but then he meets Adam Hughes and everything he thought about himself is challenged. Adam makes him feel amazing and it’s not just the sex. Adam has been out for ages and doesn’t want to hide who he is, but dating a police officer is different than any other relationship he has ever had. Danger threatens their peace, exposing them to the community and to all of Drake’s friends.
This is the story of Drake Knowles a cop who is very deeply closeted and Adam Hughes an openly gay bar owner. The two meet and can’t resist the irresistible pull towards one another. They start a relationship and don’t look back. Then one day a life or death situation changes everything and decisions need to be made. Will Drake step out of the closet and into light for Adam? Will Adam hold Drakes hand and stand by his side and help him find the way?
Ok I want to start off saying how much I really liked this book. With that being said I now want to explain why I gave it the rating I did. For as much as I enjoyed the storyline, I did feel that the relationship between the two men was somewhat rushed I just felt as though they met and they fell love with in a day. I also felt there were just some things in the book that couldn’t be overlooked in the respect that I feel the book was turned out to soon. If you’re looking for a very sweet sexy short read this is a great book for you. I just ask that if this is the only Sara York book you’ve ever read do not base your views on her writing on this book, please look into her other series before you make a decision.
I would like to thank MLR Press for providing me with the eARC of this title in exchange for my honest opinion.
