Dance by Teodora Kostova ~ Review by Caroline

I won’t lie.  The thing that drew me to this book was the cover. Have you seen that cover? Wow!

20454507Title: Dance

Author: Teodora Kostova

My Rating: 4.5 of 5 stars

From the Publisher:

Jared Hartley is happy. He has a starring role in a popular West End musical, great friends, adoring fans and his own flat in Central London. A relationship is not something he has ever really wanted. Making big plans for the future is not in his nature – Jared is content with his single status and enjoying all the benefits of that lifestyle.
He doesn’t even realise something is missing in his life.
Until he meets Fenix.

Fenix Bergman has a dream – to perform on Broadway. When he gets offered the lead role in Poison – a new musical based in London, he accepts, immediately recognising the huge potential of the show.

Fenix thinks he has his life completely figured out – he will move to London, help Poison become the new West End hit and bide his time until Broadway comes knocking on his door. He has never wished for anything else but proving to himself and the world that he is a performer worthy of the biggest theatre stage.
Until he meets Jared.

Jared and Fenix’s lives collide and they fill each other’s missing pieces. Neither of them expects to feel so much, so fast for the other.

Neither of them expects to need someone so badly when love hasn’t even been in their plans.

But when Fenix’s star becomes too bright for London, will the dream he’s chased all his life ruin the dream he’s holding in his hands?

Will he survive getting everything he’s ever wanted?

Will Jared?

My View

It may have been the cover that first caught my attention but I am so glad it did. I hadn’t heard of this author before but if she writes anymore MM I will be at the front of the queue to read it.  This is a very simple but beautiful story. Each chapter is told from one persons POV and it runs very smoothly without the overlapping that this sometimes causes.

Jared co-wrote a play that is now enjoying success in the West End and which he also stars in. He enjoys his success has a group of good friends and is happy and content with his life.

Fenix is the star of ’Poison’ and is excited and proud to have made it to the West End.  His career is finally taking off and maybe his dream of being a leading man on Broadway is not so far off. The son of a world famous ballet dance Fenix is determined to achieve his dream through his own hard work.

When the two men end up sharing a dressing room it is lust at first site. Sometimes insta-love doesn’t work but in this story it just seemed to happen to both men so naturally that I didn’t question it. Their love was fast and they both fell hard but it was written in a way that made you believe.

There is a lot of sex in this book. Very hot sex! Again it is written in a way that compliments the story and enforces the way the two men feel. They laugh, they love and they end up in bed all the while forming a friendship deeper than either have previously known. They both have demanding roles but both find ways to support each other….it reads like the perfect love story.

Until Fenix gets an offer he can’t refuse. Perfect becomes broken. Love becomes heart ache. The dream that Fenix has aspired to may be the one thing that destroys him. When everything you have ever worked for turns out to be nothing that you really want how do you stop that train and get back to what you know you need. Jared is left destroyed and knows only one thing can ever make him whole again but that one thing is thousands of miles away and falling apart.
