I would like to thank Kol Anderson for taking the time to talk to us about Heart and more. Check out Caroline’s review for Heart here. There is also a giveaway, so stay tuned for that.
1. Your latest release is Heart. What can you tell us about it?
K: I always strive to write stories that aren’t just porn, and Heart is supposed to be another step into that direction.
2. What do you think is the most rewarding thing about writing M/M versus other genres?
K: The fact that you will find an audience if you’re good, even if you write something that’s inappropriate and too depraved for most audiences. I love my readers. They’ve always been the source of my inspiration.
3. What part of writing a book comes the hardest for you?
K: No part. I generally enjoy writing every bit of it.
4. How important are secondary characters to your story telling? Do you actively try to have women characters in your M/M to balance the male focus of the MCs?
K: So far, I haven’t been able to develop secondary characters, but I have tried to do that with HEART. As for women characters, I’m working on that in the next books as well.
5. If you could have a conversation with any famous author, who would you want to get writing tips from and what skill of theirs would you like to emulate?
K: There are so many. I love Fitzgerald for his descriptive quality and the element of romance in his works, I enjoy Dostoevsky’s writing for his portrayal of real people. I adore a lot of other people like Anne Rice and Bret Easton Ellis.
6. Do you read your reviews, and if so do they influence the way you write the next book at all?
K: Of course I read reviews. And they do influence my writing. When I see good advice I take it for sure. But it has to be actual advice and not a ten thousand word thesis on why I should go kill myself.
7. What 10 authors would you put in a Hunger Games style match up – and who would win?
K: Ten authors? Wow, that’s actually a lot. I don’t know if there was some fantasy universe where everyone got together, the authors would be:
1- Bret Easton Ellis
3- Ann Rice
5- Kurt Vonegut
6- Jack Kerouac
7- Allen Ginsberg
8- Leo Tolstoy
9- John Steinbeck
10- Slyvia Platt
Pretty sure Bret Easton Ellis is going to win, because let’s face it when it comes to psychopaths, no one does it better than him.
8. If you could have a superpower, what would it be and why?
K: To be able to type onto the laptop what’s going on inside my head.
9. What is next, what are you working on?
Working on two new books: a sequel to Heart, and a new series called Cocktails and Dreams. Also working on the Prisoner finale.
From the Publisher:
What if the person whose memory you held on to isn’t the person you thought he was?
Lucas Mayer is a hit-man, running from his past, and the one person he can think of having a future with is Roman Woodrow, a guy who’s always had trouble keeping steady relationships. Among the many addictions of Roman, is the devious and manipulative, Daniel Jones. But Lucas can’t give up Daniel’s secret without giving up his own.
About the Author
“The books that the world calls immoral are books that show the world its own shame.”
― Oscar Wilde
I love to dream. And sometimes enjoy the concept of nightmares turning into fantasies, hence the dark subject matter of my books and the constant HEA approach. I do love the idea of love, and I have a passion for reading and movies and music and just about anything that keeps me distracted from the fact that life is pointless.
