Dirty Ross by Sandrine Gasq-Dion ~ Review by Caroline

Dirty Ross
Title: Dirty Ross

Author: Sandrine Gasq-Dion

My Rating: 5 of 5 stars

From the Publisher:

ole Ryker has been a man on a mission since the second he laid eyes on tall, dark and dirty-talking Ross Collins. That mission? To get the macho Delta Force soldier into his bed and out of his head, putting an end to his obsession. When Ross finally agrees to a date, Cole is overjoyed – and, frankly, rather surprised. Ross is like no man he’s ever met. When one date leads to another and another, the men struggle to sort out their feelings. Ross Collins is in full command of everything in his life. When Cole Ryker hits on him – and keeps hitting on him – something in Ross is drawn to the confident firefighter and the uncertainty that comes with letting someone else take the lead. Time with Cole is intoxicating, unlike anything Ross could have imagined. He’s falling fast and Cole is right there with him. But everyone has secrets, don’t they? Ross is hiding the fact that he’s a werewolf, and Cole is terrified his own past relationship will ruin any chance he has of finding happiness with Ross. There’s also the matter of a man from Ross’ past who’s pretty determined to stake his own claim on the soldier. Truths explode as quickly and terrifying as a five-alarm fire, putting relationships in jeopardy and loved ones in danger. Is there an escape or will their love turn to ashes?

My View

There are not many series of books out there that leave you as excited now as you were in the beginning when you are waiting for Book 22.  Yes! That’s right….Book 22! I am a huge fan of this series, it never gets old and at the end of every single one Sandrine leaves you wanting the next story and wanting it quickly. These books may all have a theme and a HEA but they are all unique.

My advice is to start with book one if you are new to the Assassin/Shifter books. Each story blends seamlessly into the next and all the characters are a pleasure to meet. There are a lot of strong friendships built along the way as this group of paranormals fight for their place and safety in the world.

We have been teased with Ross and Coles story in previous books, never quite sure whether Cole had blown it from the start with his brash and crude manner. Ross maybe Delta Force but he is a very sensitive soul with a big secret. Cole, as we discover hides behind a mask of indifference and is not quite the confident and brash man everyone thinks he is.

When Ross finally agrees to a date with the man that has annoyed him and turned him on for the last few months nobody is more surprised than Cole. Cole is sent into a panic and for the first time we get a glimpse of how unsure of himself he really is and how his previous relationship still affects him. All goes well on the date until the very end when Cole practically ‘eats face’ trying to kiss Ross and the words Ross throws at him hurt him and he runs.

As usual there is a lot of action and still the mystery of who is running the rogues operation and it is great to meet up with a lot of the other men in the series. The thing for me in this story though was the actual romance. We finally get to see what makes these two men tick and who they really are and it proves that appearances can be deceptive. They may have taken forever to get to this point but when it finally happens it is explosive.

When Cole is injured at work things have to very quickly change and as more secrets are revealed that also involve his family Cole is left frightened and alone. Shocked at what he has learned and scared about what it means he has no idea who to trust or turn to. When his younger brothers safety and life is also on the line he finally realises what is important but fears it is too late.

I am looking forward to the next book in the series and hope soon to be reading more about the mysterious Lev. I have my fingers firmly crossed that Chaz will finally get his answers now he knows about paranormal life and may even get a happy ending!
