Morning Report: Book One

A decade on from their first kiss, Luke Murray is more in love with Simon every day. Running the Lost Cow ranch for Luke’s parents, they keep their heads down and get along with the locals, even if Luke is known for being a hothead. Then one day they discover the local store owners refuse to serve them.

They’re bewildered until Luke’s mom tells them the new pastor has targeted the couple in his sermons. Suddenly Luke and Simon find themselves alienated from people they called friends, and their ranch comes under a series of attacks. As the town’s hatred and homophobia turns on them, Luke and Simon will face a critical choice: give in to the town’s demands and disappear, or stand and fight for themselves and their love.

My View

Story Review

Mmm.. Love me some hot cowboys.  Add in the established couple aspect, and this was a book I could not pass up.  I had been told that this book was very good and very hot.  The “Morning Report” of the title is actually hot shower sex between the MCs (who happen to be Ranch Foreman and Owner).  I will admit that I kinda tuned out for the sex scenes.  I am somewhat over them as a general rule, to be perfectly honest.  I read (or in this case listen) for the story.   The story in this was was well done.  You felt the confusion with the characters.  You felt the ire they held for their nemesis.  You felt the weariness over the whole mess.

I really connected with Luke and Simon.  I wanted nothing but the best for them.  Even when Simon was a douche, I still knew he would do the right thing in the end.  Morning Report, also, introduced the cast of characters we will see in the remaining books in the series.  When I was done, I wanted to go straight to book two, Complete Faith.  I have not had that opportunity, yet, but I will have loaded it on to my kindle for when the time comes.

Narration Review

One of the best things about listening to M/M titles on audio is that there are some really sexy voices reading you these incredible stories.  Aaron Pickering, the narrator for Morning Report, is just such a voice.  I could listen to him all day.  Oh wait, I DID listen to him all day.  Yep, I listened to 7 hours and 48 minutes in one day.  I think that says everything I need to say about this narrator.
