Rules of the Chef

Hello! Thanks for having Fat Cat and me on your fabulous blog!

FC: ::purrs:: *licks paw*

Your latest release is Rules of the Chef, book 1 of your Southern charm series.  What can you tell us about it?

I love and adore this new series. They’re M/M contemporary erotic romance set in the Florida Panhandle. All of the stories intertwined and you’ll meet all the couples within each story.

Rules of the Chef starts things off within the graceful Southern Charm, a B&B and restaurant.

What is Dakota’s favorite thing to make?

Ooooh. He loves his gumbo, treasures the recipe, and is often playing around with it, adding this or that to perfect it.

Which of Dakota’s dishes, besides the Iced Tea, is Samuel’s Favorite?

Good one. Hmm. Samuel actually loves the Tea-Soaked Chicken Salad on fresh ciabatta rolls. Next up would be the ribs – Samuel swears the sauce is orgasmic.

What can we expect in book 2?

You get a peak of the new accountant, Chandler Braddock, from Samuel’s conversations. He’ll be venturing down south from New York to help his friend. He has some personal issues to handle.

You also meet the handsome carpenter/contractor, Sullivan ‘Sully’ Tarleton, when he appears at Samuel’s beck and call to help out and transform the Charm.

Various things fly and spark when these two meet.

If you could be one of your characters who would you be and why?

I would love to be able to be a masterful chef like Dakota and create a space like the Charm and his beloved restaurant.

If there world were going to end tomorrow, how would you spend your last night on earth?

I would try and get through the rest of my TBR pile. I know I can find beauty and another world within those pages. Of course, I would have Miss Fat Cat curled on my lap, whether she likes it not.

*evil kitteh glare from feline in question*

I would also check in with all the family and give them love.

Who are your literary heroes outside of the m/m genre and why?

Let’s see… I have a couple of sets of Heroes.

Roarke – JD Robb’s ‘In Death’ series. Not only is he damn fine looking man with an Irish accent and blue eyes to boot, he owns nearly every darn thing in the known universe. Yet, he’s tender hearted and loves and adores his ‘cop’, his butler, and their Fat Cat, Sir Galahad.

All the men created by both Sherrilyn Kenyon and JR Ward. Each character is so fascinating, powerful, complex, protective, and loving of their chosen mates.

What’s your favorite thing to wear?

If I’m stuck at the EDJ, I try to get away with one of my beloved pairs of jeans.

If I’m chilling at home with Fat Cat, I love my pajama sets – pants and t-shirts – I found at Target. They’re soft, cuddly, and perfect.

What are you working on? What is next?

I’m always working on more ideas than I have time to write. I’m slightly ADD when it comes to that.

I’m working on the 4th Southern Charm book, there will be 7 total books and couples.

I’m planning and working through a complete rework and massive expansion of a previous released book – Skylar’s Salvation – is coming.

Having received rights to previous published books, I’m hoping to work through those re-edits, new covers, and publishing them once more.

Then there are the massive amount of plot bunnies circling my head. There is a 5-book serial idea about magical bound familiars. Another 5-book serial about sentinels who watch and protect the seasons.

I also need to continue on the 4th book of my M/M/F jaguars series – Fire Jaguars.

Lots of plot bunnies and characters yelling at me.

Where can readers find more about you?

I’m always on Facebook (I sneak in my lil netbook to my office). You can search and friend me and join my page.

I’m on Goodreads.

I also have a blog/website – but I’m not the best at keeping them up-to-date. (blushes) I’m trying. Honest!

Oh.. Email me –! I love hearing from readers and interacting.

In person – I’ll be at RainbowCon in Tampa next week. In October, I’ll be at GRL as a Reader, but you can still ‘attack’ me for autographs and info.

From the Publisher:

Learning about the sale of his beloved home – The Southern Charm, chef and co-owner Dakota Mitchell is having a hard time with the potential changes. He wants nothing else to alter.

Chosen by his family’s company Ashford Hotels to re-create the Charm into the latest chain of boutique hotels, Samuel Ashford enters the Deep South. Inside the overgrown, run down appearance, he learns the Charm is run by people who care and love the building, the delicious food, and their guests.

Can these two put aside differences and arguments to save the Charm? Even if it means they find a little love along the way.

About the Author:

Ever the quiet one growing up, Nicole Dennis often slid away from reality and curled up with a book to slip into the worlds of her favorite authors. Over the years, she’s created a personal library full of novels filled with dragons, fairies, vampires, shapeshifters of all kinds and romance. Always she returned to romance. Still, there were these characters in her head, worlds wanting to be built on paper, and stories wanting to be told and she began writing them down whether during or after class. She continues to this day. Only recently has it begun to become fruitful, spreading out to let others read and enter her worlds, meet her characters, and see what she sees. No matter what she writes, her stories of romance with their twists of paranormal, fantasy and erotica will always have their Happily Ever Afters.

She currently works in a quiet office in Central Florida, where she also makes her home, and enjoys the down time to slip into her characters and worlds to escape reality from time to time. At home, she becomes human slave to a semi-demonic tortie calico.

    • Hi Allison

Not quite, but I did find most of them in and around the web. LOL I could create a Dakota’s Daily Specials page on my website or FB Group and post everything there. 😉

  1. My favorite dish to eat is lasagna (yum, yum, yum, yum, YUM!)but it takes forever to make.

My favorite dish to make is more of a desert. I love to make cut-out sugar cookies. Only because rolling, cutting and frosting with my two kids is hella-messy but SO much fun! 😀

  2. My favorite to fix and eat spaghetti. I was taught how do it right with all fresh ingredients. I also use a multigrain noodle all in all it’s fairly healthy and oh so delicious. But the garlic bread nixes the healthy part. Then there is the desert afterward outside in cake. You take a devils food cake scratch or boxed and at the end put in the frosting for a German chocolate cake just the frosting. Put the mix in a bunt pan sprinkle with powdered sugar. The meal takes about two or more hours to eat what with salads, main course, breads, desert and that’s the best part talking bsing enjoying good food family friends. Yeah it’s more than spaghetti.

  3. My favorite dish to make is pot roast with vegetables because it’s easy and there are always leftovers. My favorite dish to eat is any type of seafood cooked any and every way – just don’t like the mess of cooking it myself.

  4. well…nothing really that i make since I truly believe that when someone else makes something it always tastes better. So, I would have to say either, my hubby’s fried chicken or my little brother’s (who is a chef in the Navy) baklava or his chicken parm…really pretty much anything he makes is good LOL! I feel a little bad that when he comes home on leave we make him cook, but apparently not bad enough to tell him not to…HAHA!

  5. I only recently got into cooking/baking, so my experience is a bit limited. The one I can convince my brother (pickiest eater ever) to eat is Japanese Beef Stew. It is a crock pot recipe, so great for those busy days.

I’ve also been working on meringue cookies. They’re so easy to make and so many varieties.

  6. My favorite dish to make is Flan de Queso (cheese flan). I am more of a cook than a baker but this is my grandma recipe, very special.

  7. I’m Italian so I make a lot of pasta dishes – my favorite is veal marsala but my family loves my lasagna or stuffed shells.

I’m really looking forward to this book – I love foodie books 🙂

  8. I like making homemade Chinese dishes! Lots of great veggies and bold flavors! Of course, I love desserts too; so making some chocolate covered oreos are also wonderful!
    Thanks for the great interview!

  9. I love this kind of book maybe cause I like eat and cook… I don’t have one favourite… I love pasta and pizza and I’m quite good to prepare them LOL… but also a lot of veggie sadly!!!

  10. My favorite dish to make & eat is chicken & dumplings. It takes me hours to simmer everything slowly, trying to get the best flavor. I hate soggy carrots, so they are the final additive, other than the dumplings. My favorite easy food is pizza. I saute all the veggies, including spinach, because I do not like the taste of raw veggies on pizza. We put all the toppings out in bowls, and each family member gets to make their own individual pan pizza. I just bought a Vitamix, and my new favorite soups are broccoli & chicken tortilla, because they are so easy…And now I am hungry from talking about the food. Anyway, I would love to win a copy of Rules of the Chef, and will add it to my wishlist.

  11. Actually, my favorite dis to make is a salad 🙂 Different greens, fresh tomatoes, Mozzarella, corn, special spices, yoghurt sauce, milk and vegetarian meat. plus a bit of squash oil for the special something. Yum!
