Author: Toni Griffin, Mathilde Watson, Freddy MacKay and Angel Martinez

Publisher: Mischief Corner Books

My Rating: 4.75 of 5 stars

From the Publisher:

Since the dawn of human expression, man has gazed up at the heavens in wonder, inspired by the wheeling of the stars to explain his surroundings. While our perception of those surroundings have changed, from thinking of the Earth as a flat, stable plane to realizing we’re falling through space in a tiny atmospheric bubble, our wonder remains constant.

Space stations, alien races, far-flung planets—join the Mischief Corner authors as they explore the possibilities the stars might offer. The catch? Returning to mundane old Earth might be harder than you think.

Finding Connor: The Borillian Twist, Book 1 – Toni Griffin
Mark, a RAAF fighter pilot, is on leave for the first time since the aliens decided to say ‘Hello’. He meets Connor, a numbers man for a casino, at a gay bar and danced the night away. Their one night together changes their entire lives and what people think they know about life on Earth.

The Usual Conventions: Unconventional Romances 1 – Mathilde Watson
When Chris meets the alien—man—of his dreams, “Ensign Brodeich Geinn” aka actor Brody Gates, it’s as one of the coordinators for the first annual OBX Science Fiction Convention in North Carolina. To his delight, Brody seems to return his interest, albeit in typical alien “Brodeich” fashion. Awkward alien or not, Chris is more than willing to play out any sexual fantasy for his SciFi crush, especially when Brody fumbles over the simplest of human conventions.

Feel Me – Freddy MacKay
One terrorist blast changed Master Tobias Zimmer’s entire existence, relegating him to being nothing more than just a “Coppies” because of the metal replacing his flesh. As the once future Shogun of moon colony Orion 1, he now idles his time away keeping tabs on the Loyalists while his father and brother broker negotiations with the Earth Consortium.

A confrontation with his childhood enemy, Dr. Thorsten Nordenfelt, sets into motion events that cannot be undone and puts Tobias’s sheltered heart at the center of the colony’s attempts to free itself from the repressive Earth’s rule.

Shax’s War: Brimstone 3 – Angel Martinez
The boys desperately need a vacation. With the not-quite-ill-gotten gains from the Frog incident, Shax takes the Brimstone’s crew to the exclusive resort planet, Opal. What could possibly go wrong there?

Finding Connor:

The Borillian, Book 1

This story is about Mark a fighter pilot with the RAAF & Connor a casino worker meeting in a bar for a night of passion. A night a passion that turns not only there lives upside down but the entire human races lives as well. Will life as any of us know it ever be the same again?

I really liked this story. I felt that the author thanks to her lacing the story with humor, turned what could’ve been a very unbelievable subject believable. Even with chuckling through the whole story, I couldn’t put it down. I needed to know what happened next. It was a really good read.

This is the story of Chris a convention center worker organizing his first big roll with a sci-fi convention coming through town and Brody an actor (and hidden alien) of a long ago canceled sci-fi tv show. When the two men come together at the convention and begin to fall in love will the truth tear them apart? Will Brody be able to come clean and tell Chris what he really is? Will Chris be able to handle it?

What I liked about this is it was a different spin on an old storyline. Usually the human meets the actor and they fall in love with the human (and the reader) finding out the actor is an alien at the end. Not in this book, the reader knows right upfront that the actor and the rest of the cast are all aliens. Watching the truth come out and everything unfold is priceless. This was a very cool story and I would definitely recommend it.

The story of Tobias Zimmer a man who once had a promising future until a devastating accident leaves him disabled and alone. And Dr. Thorsten Nordenfelt who has loved Tobias from afar but let a childhood rivalry and politics keep them apart. Can these two men find themselves and each other and make it work?

I have to say I really enjoyed this book. The author did a phenomenal job of setting the story. So much so I felt like I was right there with Tobias and Thorsten helping them try to save the world while falling in love. This story is not the type of thing I normally read but I have to say thanks to this author I definitely will again.

Shax’s War: Brimstone 3

4.5 Stars

This was an interesting story for me to read.  I really enjoyed it which is why I gave it four and a half stars. The story is about four friends who go on vacation together. They are four very different beings Shax a demon prince, Ness a fallen angel, Corny a human and Verin who I believe was also a demon it was never really explained.  What could possibly go wrong for the four friends going on nice vacation together, you’d be surprised. This story had a lot of twists and turns it really surprised me. My only thing is honestly I feel as though it shouldn’t have been a standalone. I just had a little difficulty wrapping my mind around the relationship between the two couples and the four men as friends without knowing more about them from the beginning. With that being said I would truly recommend this story as the love story between Shax and Ness starts out as what seems like a lustful relationship and becomes a beautiful love story with Shax cast as an unlikely hero.
