Personal Protection by A.R. Moler ~ Review by Caroline

For 49 pages there is a lot of story packed into this small book.

: Personal Protection

Author: A.R. Moler

Publisher: JMS Books

My Rating: 3.75 of 5 stars

From the Publisher:

Dr. Ryan Bergstrom has offended somebody, but he has no idea who is so upset with him. Ryan is a gifted medical researcher working on a drug that could slow down the progression of Alzheimer’s disease. Death threats and nasty pranks mean that the medical research firm has hired a bodyguard to make sure their golden boy is protected from his stalker.

Brendan Marek is an ex-Ranger currently working as private security. Ryan’s attracted to his new bodyguard but sure that a military guy wouldn’t be interested. But Marek is not a stereotype. Can they figure each other out while under siege?

My View

You are immediately dragged into this story as we meet Dr Ryan Bergstrom and discover that for weeks he has been receiving letters and phone calls threatening his personal safety. Ryan is working on a drug to slow down Alzheimers and his boss at the medical facility where he works is worried the threats are escalating and hires him a bodyguard.

Brendan Marek is an ex Ranger and a body covered in scars that all have a story to tell. When he meets his new client he doesn’t know how just the sight of him proves a huge temptation to the young Doctor.

There is a lot happening in this book in a very short time and all of it grips your attention. For me personally I felt the connection was too fast but then they were in a stressful situation and both obviously attracted to each other.

There is a lot of tension and angst until they can finally work out who is stalking Ryan and when things escalate out of control both their lives are in danger. I would like another short story about the pair just to see what happens next.
