Title: Roped In
Author: Marie Sexton and L.A. Witt
My Rating: 4.25 of 5 stars
From the Publisher:
Graham and his roping partner Jackson have ruled the rodeo scene for ten years running, but lately, Graham’s heart isn’t in the game. He’s tired of the bruises, the cowboy mentality, and the animal rights activists who picket every event. And then there’s Jackson.
Graham and Jackson have been friends since they were boys. But ever since their drunken sexual encounter the year before, things have been awkward. Graham’s accepted that he might be gay, but no matter how attracted he is to other men, he always panics and runs when the clothes start to come off.
Then Graham has a run-in with one of the rodeo protesters, and everything changes. Kaz is young, idealistic, and sexy as hell. And Kaz has an idea for getting Graham past his nerves and into bed.
All they need is a bit of rope.
Poor Graham is in a muddle. Alongside his best friend Jackson he has ruled the Rodeo scene for the last ten years but he finds himself wondering if there is more to life and is giving serious thought to quitting. It doesn’t help that he thinks he is gay or that he has been in love with his best friend for years. It is made worse by the fact that things got hot between them nearly a year ago and he panicked and ran leaving things uncomfortable between them.
His life is made even more complicated when he has a run in with a group of animal rights protestors at his latest Rodeo event. A young man named Kaz confronts him and he finds himself immediately attracted to the younger man. Jackson comes to his rescue shouting bigoted slurs and once again Graham panics and runs. Graham hates the words his friend used to belittle Kaz and desperately wants to find out more about the man and apologise for his friends outburst.
At the next Rodeo he seeks Kaz out and arranges to meet him to discuss their differences. The attraction is obvious between the pair but Graham can’t get over his need to run. Kaz thinks he may have the answer and the following night Graham finds himself tied up and having the hottest sexual experience of his life. Something in the bondage calls to Graham and settles him down and as long as Kaz is in control the panic recedes.
Lately when I have read books that include bondage, domination and submission it seems a prerequisite for being the Dom is to be big and burly and the sub is always smaller. I am sure this stereotype is not in the job description and it was good to see a smaller man taking charge. In the bedroom Kaz was confident in everything he did and Graham responded beautifully.
With their differences outside the bedroom being so vast they are going to have to compromise if they are to ever have a chance at their HEA. Add in a best friend that struggles with his feelings and sexuality and it is going to be a very bumpy ride.
