Liam Carlington is a spoiled rich kid. He’s been acting out since his childhood love, Paul, devastated him by marrying a woman. He drops out of school in favor of drinking and partying too much. When his current bodyguard is injured in a bar fight, a new bodyguard replaces him.
His new protector, Scott Jackson, is gorgeous, and tough. He’s attracted to his new charge, and Liam is aggressive about how much he would love to get Scott in bed. But Scott is worried Liam is just using him for a sexual fling.
As much as Scott would love to give in to Liam sexually, he knows there is someone out there who has threatened Liam’s life. It complicates matters that Scott is beginning to lose his professional distance from Liam. He’s not willing to lose another client, but can he really keep Liam safe by staying out of his bed?
This is a quick read with a little mystery thrown in.
Liam is rich, spoiled and a bit dramatic. He has dropped out of college to mend his broken heart and after his childhood sweetheart, and love of his life, went off and married a woman. If he is feeling a little bitter about this he believes he has every right.
After an attack on their house Liams family have hired bodyguards for their safety. Nick, Liams latest guard, is currently recovering from a stab wound in hospital after a bar fight got out of control. Scott Jackson has been brought in to cover Nick and Liam is immediately attracted to the hot ex marine.
Scott has his own demons to deal with and is determined to keep Liam at a professional distance. Liam seems to very quickly get over his devastating break up with his attraction to Scott and pursues him relentlessly.
The ongoing mystery into who is threatening Liam plays in the background, I had guessed quite early on who may have been involved although the second person through me for a loop. As the attraction between Liam and Scott grows so do the attacks and the danger to Liams life.
The ending happened a little quickly for me. I would have liked to have seen how the two men worked things out, it was lacking a little connection between them and just seemed rushed. It was still fun, had a hot marine and a brat that grows on you as the story proceeds, and a bad man with a gun!
