Sunday was my last day in NOLA. Thanks to New Orleans being a very popular weekend getaway location from Houston, the earliest flight out I could get was 8:45pm. Now, I know you are thinking “oh, you could have just gone on standby on an earlier flight… um no. They are ALL very full flights and I didn’t want to be stuck in the (very boring) New Orleans airport all day.
It was mostly a day of hanging out and saying goodbye to friends new and old. Lots of pictures and hugs. I had a very leisurely breakfast in the hotel with a few people, and then Becky and I headed to the New Orleans Zoo. It was a beautiful day for the trip.
It was beautifully landscaped, but overall left me underwhelmed. We ended up touring much of it on the train and calling it good.
We took the cable car (with a bus transfer and cable car transfer thanks to construction on the cable car lines, and free shuttle to the zoo) down there and the bus back to the French Quarter.
I am really sad that I left my good camera at home this trip, but I had an enjoyable time. We went back to the hotel and talked with some new friends for a few hours, until it was time to head to the aforementioned BORING airport. At least the security line was miniscule.
I was very happy to see my husband had been to the grocery store in my absence and had my favorite guilty pleasure waiting for me this morning (well it was there last night, but I just crashed when I got home). Becky will appreciate this, because I was totally jonesing for Caffeine Free Dr Pepper last night at the airport.
I have LOTS of swag and some free books to giveaway in the coming days/weeks/months/etc. I need to go through it all and see what I have between RainbowCon and RT. I will definitely be doing the Prism Swag/Amazon Giftcard/Con swag giveaway in the next couple of days, but there will be at least one more giveaway, as well.
So I have a little giveaway to go with my RT Update posts. Every comment made on one of my “RT Con Updates” will enter you to win a swag pack. It will include a Prism Tote Bag filled with RainbowCon swag, RT Swag, and Prism Book Alliance swag. It will also include a $10 Amazon Giftcard.
I will draw the winner from among all those who comment on my RT Updates on 20 May 2014 after I get back from New Orleans.
I have a number of paperbacks, most of which are signed, to giveaway. Over the between now (11 Mar 2017) and 31 Mar 2017, every comment on the blog (this post and all other new posts), will be entered to win 1 of these paperbacks. There are also some misc swag items, so there will be a few packs of these to give away as well.
Thank you so much for your support over the last 4 years. Prism will be closing its doors on 1 April 2017. All content will remain available, but no new content will appear after 31 Mar 2017. As such all request forms have been turned off. Again Thank you,
