Title: Backburn (Fighting Fire #3)
Author: Laura Harner
My Rating: 4.5 of 5 stars
From the Publisher:
Scott refuses to accept his mistake dealt a final blow to his troubled relationship with Rob, so he’s working hard to finish the apartment he plans for them to share. With odd occurrences of vandalism, a poacher, and an increasingly active inner demon named PTSD, he has plenty to keep him busy while he waits for Robby to come around.
Rob is working a lot of overtime in order to qualify for a new position as a wildland firefighter—a minor detail he decides to withhold in light of Scott’s frequent nightmares. Of course there are a couple of other details Scott has a right to know about—if only Robby hasn’t left things too late.
Just as one man discovers his truth—the other realizes everything he’s believed is a lie. One is certain they can work things out—the other knows why they can’t. Only one of them can be right.
Backburn is the third installment in the Fighting Fire portion of the Pulp Friction 2014 serial. This is only part of the whole story and should be read with the understanding that you need to have read what came before and the rest is still to come.
Backburn continues the tale of Robby and Scott with the author adding to the character development and plot line progression. Ms. Harner maintains continuity with the previous two installments as well as with the other portions of this serial. The overall suspence and mystery surrounding “who done it” is slowly unfolding and in Blackburn things are starting to get interesting! The main characters have reached a turning point in their relationship with each man facing his past and deciding what they want for their future. But are they too late? I wish I knew, but Ms. Harner has left me hanging yet again in a spectacular fashion.
I feel that Backburn by Laura Harner is another great addition to the Pulp Friction 2014 serial. This group of authors works so well together and is producing a fabulous reading experience.
