My View:

This anthology contains several short stories all connected by the Cabin for two theme. Each story was unique on its own, and I have captured my thought on each below. As in most anthologies, the stories are short and fast paced. This may cause some people to say that the stories lack development, but I feel that this is the norm for anthologies and it did not distract from my overall enjoyment.

A Bear in the Woods by Toni Griffin

I liked this one. As with many shifter tales, the relationship progresses rapidly due to the instant shifter bond. However, it also had angst, violence, and a big bear family. Overall, this was a short and sweet HEA.

Dirty Little Secret by Freddy MacKay

This was a tale of two friends finally getting their heads out of their asses and realizing they should be together. It shows what lack of communication can lead to. I loved that the author included backstory and relationship development in such a short story. The ending was good in that it was a HFN with the promise of continuing development into a HEA.

Three Little Words by Mathilde Watson

This one was not to my taste. I did not connect with the MCs and their relationship felt forced. The sex scene rubbed me the wrong way and I felt the ending was too open ended. This tale was written well and I am sure some folks will enjoy it; however, it was just not for me.

Their Natural Habitat by Silvia Violet

This is a follow up to a previous short story that follows Parker and Dan as they try to sustain a relationship after a wonderful summer fling. The previous story ended on what the reader would assume is a HEA. I loved seeing that things were not perfect. That the men had to compromise and figure things out with their long distance relationship. Each man had to decide if the other was worth making significant life changes. I really enjoyed this one and these men are HOT together. There is also the potential for more Parker and Dan stories as the ending leaves thing with the promise of a HEA.

A Matter of Faces by Angel Martinez

I’m not sure what to say about this one. It was a bit weird for me. It was a SCIFI tale about two lonely people coming together. There was little character or relationship development and mostly sex. Some of the sex happened at what I would consider an inappropriate time and was a little disconcerting to me. The ending was great with the potential for a long term HEA and redeemed this one a little in my eyes. Overall, this one was short and sweet but just wasn’t for me.

  1. I’ve read an MF anthology book based on a cabin tucked away in the woods? And just like this one, each story is based on a couple visiting the cabin and sorting something out w/a HEA. wonder if it’s the same pubs house?
    Thx for the review
