Title: Confirmed Kill
Author: Patricia Logan
Publisher: Westburg Publishing
My Rating: 4.25 of 5 stars
From the Publisher:
Ichiro Hayashi has been hired to kill a man whose actions threaten to bring down a political empire which stretches across oceans. Hayashi, an assassin trained in the ancient art of the Ninja, has only one sacred duty… he must carry out his mission, or die trying. The kill should be simple yet the target is unsophisticated and without protection. These things give Ichiro pause and he wonders why anyone would want this particular man’s life destroyed.
A young Russian is a marked man. He’s been forced to flee his home, his way of life, and the only man he’s ever loved. When the young man escapes to the US he finds the man who means everything to him has been lost to him, believing him dead. When he is suddenly confronted with an angel of death in the form of a devastatingly handsome assassin, broken-hearted Vasili welcomes his fate.
The twists and turns continue when Ichiro finds his lover threatened, and he suddenly knows that he must rise to the challenge and face the man who wants them both dead. Can he? Injured and alone, his target will learn… the Ninja has secrets of his own.
Another strong story in this new series about Assassins. The first chapter will give you a huge jolt – one minute you are immersed in a beautiful sex scene between 2 men clearly in love, the next there is devastation and destruction that will have ramifications for years. The first chapter damn near killed me!!
The protagonist in this story is a handsome assassin with ninja skills. After losing his one true love he dives into undercover work for the government and is quickly recognised by his peers as being one of the best.
Vasili is a young Russian man whose only crime is being gay. In Russia this is enough to get him killed but thanks to some clever manoeuvring and a little bit of luck he avoids death and finds himself spirited to the USA. His one mission is to find the man he loves, another Russian who has also escaped, who he hasn’t seen for a couple of years.
There are a lot of twists and turns in this book and at least one moment where I found myself say – WTF, I didn’t see that coming! – but for young Vasili love does not run smoothly and he seems to have an assassin on his tail. He may have left the country that wanted to kill him but the country seems unable to let him go.
If you are looking for an exciting read with strong and passionate heroes that will go to any length to protect those they love then look no further.
