Author: Lynn Tyler
Publisher: Liquid Silver
Rating: 3.5 of 5 Stars
Michael and Justin have both been hurt in the past, but when these two solitary, lonely shifters find each other, they must decide if they’re willing to risk everything for love. Lynn Tyler presents Michael’s Heart, Book 4 of her paranormal romance series, Pack Mates.
Michael Ferris lives a solitary life, even as a werewolf within the confines of the Smooth Rock Falls pack. Not willing to risk getting hurt again, he’s built an impenetrable wall around his heart that only a few had even a chance of chipping away at. His job as a firefighter helps to keep his mind off his solitude for a while, but when he meets the right guy, Michael doesn’t know if he can let him in.
Justin Blake isn’t lonely by choice. In fact, he’s not even aware of just how lonely he is until he lays eyes on the handsome firefighter. As the shifter negotiator, Justin finds himself hopelessly drawn to Michael while helping to ease new shifters onto pack lands.
Can two hurting, lost souls heal each other, or will fear keep them apart even as the Smooth Rock Falls pack grows larger?

Michael’s Heart is the fourth installment in Lynn Tyler’s Pack Mates shifter series. I was so excited to get my hands on this book since I couldn’t wait to read about Michael and finally figure out what kind of shifter Justin was. However, once I read Michaels Heart, I was disappointed. But let me explain. There were many things I liked about this book. I will even venture so far as to say there really wasn’t anything I specifically didn’t like about this book. However, there were many things in this book that left me wanting and here in lies the disappointment.
I will start with the things I enjoyed about this tale. I love Justin and Michael together. Their relationship follows the pre-established patter set by this shifter series, and these men are HOT together yet also tender and loving. I really like this design by Ms. Tyler. I also like that we learn more about the omega role and are being introduced to more types of shifters. I like learning about how each species of shifter behaves as individuals as well as groups. It is cool to see the differences and similarities. Finally, I love the consistency across the series and the development of overall plot elements. I am looking forward to continuing additions in this world.
Ok…on to the things that left me disappointed. Overall, I was left wanting more. I wanted to know more about Michael’s past. I wanted to know more about Justin. I wanted more development in their relationship besides just sex and a few serious conversations. Michael didn’t even bother to ask what kind of shifter Justin was until the very end of the story. He calls Justin ‘his heart” but I never felt like I got a good explanation for why except that they were mates and instantly fell in love. Also, there was no official mating, and the ending left me feeling incomplete. I also wanted to know more about the omega, there were lots of vague statements about the omega’s powers, but very few concrete facts. Don’t get me wrong, I still enjoyed this book very much, but I just felt that it was rushed and needed…..more.
I would like to thank the publisher for providing me with the eARC of this title in exchange for my honest opinion.
