The sexy chipmunk shifter isn’t afraid of the dentist; he’s in love with him.
Phillip has the best job working at the Paranormal Dentistry for the Fanged and Friendly. As a chipmunk shifter, Phillip has seen handsome men walk through the door but none so gorgeous as his boss and wolf shifter, Dr. Gunner Samuels. When he finds himself being manipulated by his best friend to ask the big bad wolf over for dinner, Phillip realizes his biggest dilemma, he’s never cooked a day in his life, let alone meat. Can Phillip pull off a fabulous dinner for two? And has Gunner had his eye on the sexy shifter all this time?
Peanut Butter and Jelly for Two by Jackie Nacht is an adorable shifter tale. It sets up a world where shifters of all kinds can live together and not feel abnormal. Each human shifter portrays traits of their animal counterpart including family structure and, as in Phillip the chipmunks case, hoarding tendencies. The story was a quick, easy read that was full of humor and very little angst. Jackie Nacht has developed a shifter world that is different than most, with shifters having to search for their mate just like humans. In addition, shifters do not heal with the change and need doctors/dentists for both the human and animal sides.
In addition to the creative world she presented, Ms. Nacht did a great job with the growing relationship between the two main characters. They did not jump into sex as some shifters do. They take the time to get to know each other and date. They give and take, with both men trying things they are not accustomed to for the other. It was very romantic, in a lighthearted way. My only complaint is that there was much of the relationship growth that was handled in the background. I wish I would have seen more of what happened between these me, instead of just seeing the results.
Overall, I really enjoyed this first installment of the Paranormal Dentistry for the Fanged and Friendly series and I can’t wait to read the next one.
I would like to thank Jackie Nacht for providing me with the eRC of this title in exchange for my honest opinion.
