Title: Sweat and Smoke
Author: Therese Woodson
Publisher: Dreamspinner Press
My Rating: 3.75 of 5 stars
Cover Artist: Catt Ford
From the Publisher:
When Cole arrives at the scene of a major fire, he finds that his best friend, a paramedic named Finn, has recklessly risked his life by running into the burning building. Finn emerges fine, though singed, but Cole does not take the situation well. Their heated argument sparks a confession from Finn regarding his feelings for Cole, but a night of passion might not survive the light of day.
I freely admit that I have a soft spot for Friends to Lovers stories. I also have a soft spot for hurt/comfort stories. Combine the two and I have a hard time staying away. Another new-to-me author whom I hope to read again in the future.
Finn and Cole have been best friends for a while. They are both first responders and both risk their lives on a daily basis. But when Finn’s risk taking hits a little too close to home, Cole finally wakes up and sees what is right in front of him. There isn’t a ton of originality or mystery in the plot of this little short, but it is well written, satistfying, sweet, and hot. All things I look for in a this type of story.
I would like to thank Dreamspinner Press for providing me with the eARC of this title in exchange for my honest opinion.
