From the Publisher:
In an effort to help a boy who lost his mother, schoolteacher Rob Cooper offers to tutor him. He doesn’t expect to fall for Sam’s father, Ken Reid. Ken’s grief has led him to bury his needs and emotions in work, but he can’t deny the new feelings Rob awakens. Wanting to see his father happy again, Sam encourages a relationship, leading Rob and Ken to explore a seduction that might become true romance.
Taught to Love is a sweet hurt/comfort novelette (with a side order of “gay for you” tossed in for good measure) about a grieving man and son who are given an unexpected second chance at happiness. The characters are sympathetic and likable, especially Sam, who eagerly wants his father to have a relationship with his teacher, Rob, because he sees that Rob makes his incredibly sad father happy again. The chemistry between Rob and Ken isn’t off the charts hot, but they do “fit” together nicely as a couple, and the addition of son Sam creates a delightful family dynamic.
I do find the ease with which heterosexual Ken accepts his newly discovered sexual feelings for a man bothersome – he doesn’t even address the issue, which seems unrealistic. The story line in Taught to Love is somewhat predictable, but it is also heartwarming and delivers a nice happy ending. I find this story perfect for any time you need a little reading escape into a sweet love story.
