Another Short from the Mended Daily Dose.

TheWayThingsTurnOut_LGTitle: The Way Things Turn Out

Author: MA Ford

PublisherDreamspinner Press

My Rating: 4.25 of 5 stars

Cover Artist: Catt Ford

From the Publisher:

After a serious crash during testing, sports car driver Alan accompanies his injured teammate, Nathan, to the hospital, promising his boss he’ll stay until Nathan’s next of kin can be reached.

Former F1 test driver Nathan was a recent addition to the team, and he and Alan were not on the best of terms. Waiting for Nathan to regain consciousness gives Alan time to think back over the recent races and the ups and downs of their relationship.

Even when Nathan wakes up, Alan remains by his side at the hospital. Nathan is still keeping secrets and needs help more than he’s willing to admit. If they can trust each other, it might open the door to an attraction both assumed was one-sided.

My View

The Way Things Turn Out is the 10th or 11th story I have read from the Mended Daily Dose collection.  It is another Hurt/Comfort, and as such, focuses on two men who have to get through the pain and recovery an injury will bring.  In this case it has the added twist of a little enemy-to-lovers action.

Nathan and Alan have had an interesting relationship up until this point, but as a near death experience of does, Nathan’s accident brings to the forefront the feelings they have both been fighting.  We spend the first half of the story getting to know both men through Alan’s memories of their times together, good and bad.  We spend the second half of the story watching as they navigate the rocky road of their feelings for one another.  I liked both halves.  It made for a very interesting way to look at the beginnings of a relationship.  In then end, I wanted them to last.

  1. oops, because this is the same cover I’ve seen on a couple of reviewed bks I just deleted the last reviews thinking they were repeats. The only reason why I opened this one was because the first line had sports car driver. And I know the other bk wasn’t about one.

      • Great Reviews! poorly done by the author/pubs! To a person like me, I’m a cover whore! So if all your covers look the same then I’m going to assume the story is the same and pass! (which is what I did)
