Guest Post:

Welcome to day one of my mini author tour, thank you to Prism Book Alliance for having me

When I was at the UK meet I was told by readers on more than one occasion that they thought I just wrote paranormal, or I just wrote contemporary. Of that they knew about Texas, but had never heard of the Sanctuary series. So I came up wit this idea… highlight two very different books, or series, and add in some cool prizes and maybe readers might find something new from me.

Today I thought I would focus on the differences and similarities to two of my series. The Texas Series (5 books with a 6th coming in October) and The Sanctuary Series (7 books).

These two series are really different, as different as chalk and cheese on the surface. The Texas Series, begins with The Heart Of Texas, an 83,000 word soap story of drama and blackmail and murder, featuring playboy Riley and cowboy Jack. The series is all about family and love and is a contemporary story set against the background of issues like same sex marriage, adoption and surrogacy. There are bad guys, good guys, and some who straddle both worlds.

On the other side of the coin Sanctuary is a series set very much in the world of crime and danger. Sanctuary is a private organisation that steps in to protect anyone the FBI can’t look after. Good guys like Morgan, who is in book 1, who witnesses a murder but whose FBI safehouse is compromised. The story arc of a case runs through all seven books until the conclusion, but it is the relationship between operatives and the men they look after that is the main theme.

About the Author:

RJ Scott has been writing since age six, when she was made to stay in at lunchtime for an infraction involving cookies. She was told to write a story and two sides of paper about a trapped princess later, a lover of writing was born.
She can mostly be found reading — anything from thrillers to sci-fi to horror. However, her first real love will always be the world of romance. When writing her goal is to write stories with a heart of romance, a troubled road to reach happiness, and more than a hint of happily ever after.

  1. Even though I’ve read a lot of what you’ve written, I’ve not read all of either series. I confess, I’ve mostly read your paranormals, which I love!

  2. Hi RJ, I love the Texas series, I haven’t read your Sanctuary series yet, although they are waiting for me on my kindle. Thanks for the giveaway.

  3. I’ve really enjoyed both series but The Sanctuary series is just slightly a head.

  4. *Breathing heavy* Phew I ran all the way here! Do you know how far away this is from my house ? May I just add I do NOT run…usually! Love all your books and blogs Rj as you know 😉 Looking forward to more. Huge success on your blog tour 🙂 Hugs LeeAnn

  5. I’m excited that there is another Texas book coming! Love Jack and Riley.
I have not read any Sanctuary books so I think I need to resolve that!

  6. I’m a huge fan – I have read and loved both of these series. Currently collecting all of your Ellery Mountain series before I start them 🙂

  7. I haven’t read either series but both sound really good. I’ve put them on my wishlist. Thank you for the giveaway.

  9. the best thing about the Texas series is that classic soup, I might only be able to read it when I’m in the mood (which is like everything, but more so with this one) but I love that almost fluffy edging and feel while reading it. and the fact that you know your getting drama drama and a little more drama, it’s a great series 🙂

  10. Oh gosh, I could not choose between them as they both good series and I have the complete sets for both – if you like a romance story that started out as a sham read the Texas series and if you like romance with secret agents/servicemen & mystery try the Sanctuary series. Although I think Guardian Morgan, from the Sanctuary series is one of my favourites, then again I love The Heart of Texas – sorry still a draw!

  11. I’ve read most of the Sanctuary series but haven’t read the Texas series (that one is going on my TBR list tho). Thanks for the giveaway.

  12. I love the Texas series and can’t wait for the new book. I have only read the first sanctuary book but plan to return to the series at some point.

  13. Thanks for the giveaway! I have read several of your books but the one I love the most is The Christmas Throwaway because it was one of my mm books.

  14. I love the Texas series! So happy to hear that book 6 will be out in October. 🙂 Thanks for the giveaway!

  15. I have read both series and enjoyed them but my favourite is The Sanctuary series.

  16. It’s head because each series is good for a different reason. With Sanctuary you have political intrigue besides murder and fathers of children who do not want the parent.

Then you have Texas series with Cowboy and his Hetboy . But yet you see how lies corruption . How Riley found his father and created a family for him and Jack. So I would still say sanctuary because there are still more questions that need to be answered.

  17. Hubby got me the first 2 of Ellery Mountain. Half way through the first one. This will be a back to back reading. Now I just really need the others. Good distraction to start another series.

  18. I agree they are two different series. I have all of both series & liked them all. I really liked the Texas books. Lots of chemistry between Jack & Riley. 🙂
