Blurb:

Kyrie is an actor with a physical aversion to telling lies, a one-eyed cat, and horrible taste in men. His ex-brother-in-law and best friend, Greg, harbors a secret crush he can’t shake. After denying his feelings for Kyrie for too long, Greg finally gives in to desire one drunken night. Come the morning, the facts get twisted. Kyrie pretends he doesn’t remember a thing—a lie that eats him alive—and Greg can’t stop thinking about how he screwed up the best thing in his life.

Before they can clear the air, Kyrie follows his dreams to New York City, but could he also be running away?

A mistake from Kyrie’s past detonates their silence, and Greg is forced to confront the man he loves. Is their new truth strong enough to support a relationship, or are they doomed to crumble under old fears? Their friendship could evolve into something a million times stronger, but maybe Kyrie’s act is just too hard for Greg to follow.

My View:

This is another well written and easy to read book in the Shooting Stars series.

We met Kyrie in Double Takes (Book 2) when he was hired to play the boyfriend. He is still as sassy and flamboyant as ever and still can’t tell a lie to save his life. Greg is his best friend and also his ex brother in law. Kyrie has been crushing on him for years but in deference to his sister and his best friend he has kept his feelings to himself.

Greg is the complete opposite of Kyrie. His work as a lawyer is his main focus in life. He is quiet and conservative. He has remained on good terms with his ex wife and still spends a lot of time with her family as both the ex and Kyrie’s best friend. He has no idea how to deal with the fact that he is crushing on his ex brother in law and can’t even begin to think about the implications of trying to take it anywhere.

After a booze fuelled night out all inhibitions are lost and the two men finally end up in bed together. It is hot, sexy and everything both of them have ever fantasised about. Until the next morning, then it is just plain awkward. To try and make things easier on them both Kyrie acts as though nothing happened and runs.

Their relationship as friends is tested over the next few weeks as neither man talks about what has happened and Kyrie does his best to hide as he struggles with lying to his best friend. The perfect solution is to escape to New York with another friend to pursue his career.

When someone from Kyrie’s past emerges in New York things don’t go as planned. When Greg heads to New York to make sure Kyrie is ok it seems they may get a second chance but it will mean both men have first got to be honest with other and own up to their feelings.
