Out in the Cold is the fourth installment in the In From the Cold portion of the Pulp Friction 2014 serial. This is only part of the whole story and should be read with the understanding that you need to have read what came before and the rest is still to come.

They say all good things must come to an end, and Cannon Malloy is dreading the end of summer, the end of this job, and saying good-bye to Finn. So the frog prince makes grand plans to turn the tables, romancing and seducing his Prince Charming into waiting for him.
But Finn seems a little cold…a little distant, and a lot more eager for his departure than Cannon expected. Could there be something Prince Finn needs that Cannon isn’t giving him?
Finn Lorensson is torn…while he’d like nothing better than to crawl in bed with Cannon and never come out, he’s got real world villains to deal with, and Cannon is a lot safer in Atlanta. So he steels his resolve, and pushes Cannon away, feeling the pain of a broken heart is the just reward for his perceived misdeeds.
Sometimes, even the kiss of a frog prince isn’t enough to repair a rusty suit of armor.
Out in the Cold is all about revelations. Cannon has finally admitted where he wants to be in life and is taking action to grab hold of his future. On the other hand, Finn has always known what he wants in life, but due to circumstances out if his control, he is choosing to do the noble thing and protect Cannon. Will these two men ever be on the same page and get their happily ever after? Lee Brazil, you are evil for string me along like this. Just as things seem to be reaching a HEA, you throw in a wild card and everything changes direction. But kudos to you for knowing how to keep me on the edges of my seat.
I really like that Cannon is morphing out of the princess role and into a self confident man who goes after what he wants. And what he wants isn’t prince charming, but what lies behind the armor. He wants Finn, the man. The character development throughout this serial has been amazing and just keeps getting better. It was so sweet to see Cannon show Finn that he does indeed know the man behind the prince and that Finn deserves a little romance of his own.
I also like how Finn is changing. He is realizing that he cannot be that prince of his dreams. He is too flawed. He is on the cusp of realizing that that is perfectly OK and I am looking forward to seeing more of his development as the serial comes to its end. The prince charming theme was a very clever way to emulate the changes in Finn and Cannon’s lives.
Once again, I highly recommend this serial to everyone. I cannot wait for part five. I need to know what happened after that cliff hanging epilogue!
I would like to thank the author for providing me with the eARC of this title in exchange for my honest opinion.
