Every time the next part of this serial drops into my inbox I am almost scared to put it on my kindle and find out what happens next. My biggest fear didn’t actually happen this time round which was great, except now I still have it to come which is not great at all!
Mackey and Blake are done with rehab and now have to take ownership for themselves as they head home. The band has moved into the new house and it’s all set up and waiting for its two newest guests. Mackey is quiet and tentative for the first few days of living there; the brash and boisterous pop star persona is nowhere to be seen.
Determined not be Mackeys next drug of choice or crutch Trav holds back on the affection he is feeling for the younger man and tries to take things slowly. The sexual tension is ramped but both men do their best to maintain just a friendship. When it becomes too much they agree to date and this is something that Mackey has no idea about.
What strikes you in this episode is the feelings that these two men have for each other and how difficult it is for both of them to keep them contained. Trav feels a possessiveness for the other man whilst Mackey seems to yearn to give his heart to someone he can trust to look after it.
The music the band is making is the best it has ever been and everyone is hopeful for a successful, calm and less stressful way of life. Mackey proves to himself and Trav how well he has taken his rehab on board when a devastating call to an old friend tips him over the edge.
I feel really hopeful for Trav and Mackey after this instalment but the little bug at the back of my brain reminds me that this is Amy Lane and I should still be very afraid!!
I would like to thank the publisher for providing me with the eARC of this title in exchange for my honest opinion.
