Trav Ford doesn’t like strings and he doesn’t like messes. Coming off a messy breakup, Trav is grimly determined to keep his life absolutely pristine. When Trav is asked to take over the management of Outbreak Monkey, his first order of business is to clean up their act—and that includes shipping the youngest, most troubled member off to detox and rehab before Mackey Sanders’s life choices kill him.
But Mackey didn’t become an addict overnight, and it’s going to take more than one trip to rehab to fix him up. When an act of violence destroys Mackey’s struggling equilibrium, Trav is going to find that messy isn’t so hard to escape—not when it’s wrapping its mess around Trav’s heart.
Moving on with Mackey and the crew after their band is finally signed but Grant stays behind to live the life his father wants for him.
It is immediately clear that Mackey is not coping well without his best friend and lover and is very quickly on a downward spiral that isn’t going to end well for him. Their first month is a whirlwind of shopping, signing contracts and getting ready to record their first album. Their new manager Gerry is a father figure to all of them but sadly he has a pill for every mood. Before he has chance to think about it Mackey is taking pills to wake him up, keep him going and put him to sleep.
Travis Ford has spent most of his adult life in the army and is a stickler for rules. When he arrives home to his apartment and finds his long term boyfriend cheating it is time for a new home and a new job. He is now the official new manager of Outbreak Monkey as their old manager Gerry was found dead in a hotel room.
Not over enamoured at what he sees as a babysitting job he is shocked to see how little life experience the boys have and how poorly they survive without instruction. His first job is to get them cleaned up and he starts by removing all the drugs from their hotel room and putting Mackey into rehab. That will last four days before he returns to the band seemingly ‘better’.
There is not as much content in the 2nd part of this serial but what there is is dark and heart breaking, we got the background and the foundation in part one, this part is much more emotional. Mackey is almost disconnected from the world if it doesn’t involve music and it’s like waiting for a disaster to happen. Travis feels drawn to him but he has his own demons too, we don’t yet know too much about this new man but a flashback into his life in the army gives us a small insight.
Of course when the disaster comes the story stops and you have to wait for part 3!! Amy Lane has done it again with the cliff hanger!!
