Drawing out His Wolf (Wolves of Stone Ridge #25) by Charlie Richards ~ Book Review by PizzyGirl

This is book 25 of this series, but there is enough background given that it can be read as a stand alone. But if you want, the main characters first appear in book 21, Crashing the Comicon.

On the Road: In order to come home, first you must leave it.
Deke Sommers knows staying with his boyfriend is a bad idea. Michael enjoys ménages just a little too much and often tries to get Deke to share someone with him. Deke is not interested. He gives Michael permission to occasionally enjoy them on his own as long as he’s safe and honest about it. Unfortunately, that’s not enough for Michael, and he surprises Deke by inviting a couple of friends to his apartment to play with him.
Deke does the only thing he can…he flees. Calling up his life-long friend, Dirk, who is traveling with his vampire lover, Deke asks for help. Dirk tells him to meet him in Stone Ridge. There, Deke once again sees Luther Caldwell, a wolf shifter he met over lunch in Las Vegas months ago and hasn’t been able to get out of his mind since. Except, Luther is straight, or in the closet, isn’t he?
When Luther is neither shy nor reticent upon their meeting, claiming they are mates, can Deke trust another dominant male?

Reader Advisory: This book contains scenes of near rape.

PizzyGirl’s View:

I will admit that I was about to give up on this series. The last two books were not to my liking (I DNF #24) and were headed down a path towards BDSM in a bad way. So I was very happy to see that this one got back to the original feel of the series and revisited some of those original characters as well. The writing quality and style were back to the caliber of the start of this series.

Deke and Luther were both lovable characters and their mating was sweet. Luther almost denied his mate for fear of his daughter’s acceptance. However, that turns out very well and there was even some revelations that drew father and daughter even closer than before. Deke on the other hand was recovering from an almost sexual assault by his ex and his ex’s friends. He was fragile but Luther and Stephani help him heal. Luther and Deke are HOT together. The dirty talk was enough to have me turning down the A/C. Man, Charlie Richards can write some steamy sex.

I absolutely loved seeing Carson and Jared again. Any story that brings them back is a win in my book. They are one of my all time favorite HOT couples….might just be time to read their story again. Hmmm…yes, I do think it is time.

Overall, I really enjoyed this read. This series is a long one, so there is the risk of becoming stale or redundant. Ms. Richards in neither. She may have strayed a bit, but with Drawing out His Wolf, she is back in the game. I want more and I really want Lex’s story!
