Can Michigan and Lucas survive an attack and forge a new bond?

Michigan Sevion is in hell. As a diagnostician at Gelreen Memorial Hospital he has trained to find solutions and answers to all manner of symptoms and problems, but when it comes to his own life he finds himself hopelessly adrift. His sufletul pereche, his mate, Lucas Jaxson, was attacked by Razvan, the monstrous vampire, though Razvan looked like Michigan at the time, a week into their bonding process. Now, Lucas shakes and screams every time Michigan gets close and “the thirst” is getting worse.

There’s only one way for Michigan to survive “the thirst” and that is for his bond with Lucas to be severed, completely, and the only way for that to happen is for either him or Lucas to die. Michigan can’t even consider such a thing because he’s already falling in love with his “little chef” but he may not have a choice, because Razvan’s still on the loose and he’s still out for blood.

My View:

I was eagerly awaiting Michigan after the cliff hanger epilogue of Dakota, book 1 in the series. Unfortunately, I found Michigan to be a little anticlimactic. The first half of the book is a recap of Dakota from Michigan and Lucas’s point of view, and while we do get some new insights and information, I kept waiting for it to catch up to the exciting part.

Once it did, I felt there was something missing. The story didn’t grab me and keep me immersed. It felt kind of superficial; just skimming the surface of emotion.

I was glad, however, that Lucas’s PTSD was taken seriously and was treated rather than having sex cure all. I liked that Lucas and Michigan spent time getting to know each other as people.

I am not sure if I am invested enough to read any further in this series as I have a feeling Washington and Tracy’s story will again include a recap of previous events. Yet there are villains out there needing to be vanquished so I will have to see.
