Book 2 in the Kennel Klub series.
Finn never dreamed he’d have a mate of his own, especially not one found at the Kennel Klub, where spankings are optional and encouraged. This young werewolf is a fish out of water suddenly thrown in the deep end.
Cort is immediately drawn to Finn but it is clear they’re very different men. A chance meeting leads to a lust they can’t ignore but soon Finn leaves with his packmates.
Cort is ready to do whatever it takes to find Finn again. Once he does he’ll have to work hard to convince Finn that they belong together.
Inside Scoop: Innocent werewolf meets commanding alpha in this male/male tale.
I have to say I was a bit disappointed in this one. The first novella in this series set things up nicely with a good mix of BDSM elements and tender moments. Pack and Mate however, focused only on the relationship and there was very little BDSM and very little about the club itself. The writing was well done, but this what not what I was expecting or hoping for so, it was very sappy. It left me feeling like there was something missing.
The other thing that I did not care for was the way Finn was portrayed. He was just like a puppy. Eager, energetic, easy to scare, curious about everything, and playful. It was a bit much to see this dominant man enter a sexual relationship with someone so naive and childlike. It made me uncomfortable during the intimate moments because it felt like Finn’s development was overlooked in favor of the mating bond. I would have liked the men to be more D/s rather than father/child. But once again, this is my personal preference and someone else out there may enjoy this type of relationship.
I still have hope for this series. The club has many patrons to star in some sexy matings and Pat has potential to be an interesting character in another book in the series. I will give the next one a try to see if the author can redeem himself as I usually enjoy his works.
I would like to thank the publisher for providing me with the eARC of this title in exchange for my honest opinion.
