Diane, aka RJ

Thank you to Prism for hosting me today! Hugs, RJ XXX

I signed a cheque (check) for my son’s school with my author name. I happily signed away and went to put the cheque in an envelope and it was only when I went to seal the damn thing that I realized what I had done.

Fast forward to coffee, and someone called me Diane (my real name) and I was like… who are they talking to?

I think I have become RJ Scott. I think so much of my life is wrapped up in writing, and so much of my writing is wrapped up with real life that I sometimes feel more like RJ than Di. I answer to RJ, I sign things as RJ, I talk on line as RJ. And yes, I even sign a cheque to the school.

Authors have you become your alter ego? Readers, do you enjoy seeing parts of an author’s real life?

He scooted up so he was sitting on the pillows and watched, amused at the fact that the husband and wife team he had joined in with last night were getting hot and heavy right in front of him. She held out her hand, Anna or something. Viktor waved her away, and dismissing the need for a shower, he dressed and left the room.

“See you around, soldier!” the husband, Mark, shouted after him as he left the suburban middle-class home in Suffolk, Virginia.

“Sailor,” Viktor muttered. Then he pulled the front door shut and climbed into his Tahoe. The couple hadn’t been all that bright, but the husband was built just right for Viktor to get a hold of. Clearly they didn’t understand Viktor’s explanation of who he was when he was attempting to get the three-way. Typical.

He dialed his sister’s phone, and she picked up almost immediately.

“Viktor,” she stammered. Instantly Viktor was on high alert. He forced aside all possible worries and simply listened. “Ben had an accident, he’s in the hospital.”

“What happened? A car?”

“No. He was out on the mountain, found this morning. He’s unconscious, and he has a broken ankle, hypothermia, and a head injury.” She caught a sob. “What do I do? Why would he be out there?”

Viktor turned the key in the ignition and said nothing. On the mountain? That didn’t make sense.

“I’ll be there as soon as I can,” he said firmly. “Call me if anything changes.”

He didn’t want details. He just needed to get there.

Sometimes the wars you need to fight are the ones you left at home…

When SEAL, Viktor Zavodny, left small town America for the Navy he made sure he never had a reason to return for anything other than visiting family. He wanted to see the world and fight for his country and nothing, or no one, was getting in his way. He fights hard, and plays harder, and a succession of men and women share his bed.

But a phone call from his sister has him using his thirty day down time to go home instead of enjoying his usual thirty nights of random sex and sleep.

What he finds is a mystery on the Green Mountains and the only man attempting to make sense of seemingly unrelated deaths. His childhood friend and first love… Lieutenant Aiden Coleman, Sheriff.

There were reasons Viktor left his home. Not least Aiden Coleman with his small town innocence and his dreams of forever. Now Adam and Viktor need to work together to save lives and prove there is a hero in all of us.

When it’s done, if they make it out alive, can Aiden persuade Viktor that he has a reason to stay? Maybe forever?

  1. I get enough peeks into your life with Matt RJ’s Hubby and B. Yes as a fan peeks into your life make me feel like a friend. Keep up the great writing my new Nook is not at capacity yet that is my goal. My new Nook has a Kindle app and it’s a Samsung tab 4 Nook it is soooooo awesome. A Reason to Stay was absolutely delicious. I can’t wait to see more of Viktor and Aiden. Anticipating the next book in the series. 🙂

  2. The excerpt was really good I’m looking forward to reading the book. Devon/Deacon is Undercover cop?

  3. LOL, I am currently reading Capture the Sun…and after reading 6 books by you, I had always thought RJ Scott was a man. So it’s Diane, eh? Hello Diane. nice to meet you. I love your Sapphire Cay series.

  4. Thanks for the post and contest. One of the things I love about the m/m romance community is how accessible so many of the authors are to their readership. So, I do enjoy learning things about the author’s and their lives. The bit about you signing the wrong name on checks is awesome. Thanks for sharing.

To the Rafflecopter question, I, too, did not see any reference to Devin in the post…maybe that one did not get updated correctly?

  5. Love this book. I adore the whole Sanctuary series and getting to see some of the other characters that appeared in them that weren’t part of Sanctuary is awesome. So looking forward to the 2nd one in the Heroes series when it is released.

Not sure who Devin is, as there is no reference to him in the post and to be honest I can’t even remember if there was a Devin in the book.

  6. I always enjoy learning things about my favorite authors. 🙂 Look forward to reading A Reason to Stay and the sequel, Last Marine Standing. Thanks for the giveaway!

  7. I still haven’t read this series. Looking forward to hearing more about the sequel Last Marine Standing. Thank you for the giveaway!

  8. Damn, I was becoming confused as well but then again, that’s a normal state of mind with me. LOL! Anywho, to answer your question, Last Marine Standing is part deux. Congrats and I wish you tons of good fortune.
    Give A Rush

  9. Hello and thank you for this post and a chance to win a gift card to buy this series, as I am bit behind at the moment 🙁 It was interesting to read about your alter ego pen name taking over as I have a number of author, bloggers and other artist friends, who also use pen/stage names, and they are currently being hounded by facebook that they can only use real names not their pen names. I actually love the mystery surrounding someone using a pen name and that it allows the artist some anonymity, my father used to act and he used a stage name so I can totally sympathise with the use of pen/stage names.

Oh sorry for rambling, the answer to your copter question is: Last Marine Standing 🙂
