The lights go down and stage lights up. The Dark Angels have arrived. With his come-hither voice and body made for sin, lead singer Angel Luv draws lovers like a magnet. And when he caresses and taunts shy guitarist Darius Stone on stage, well…it’s an act, right? But every touch lights a fire, and every flirtatious glance chips away at Dare’s certainty that he’s straight. No one else has so captured his imagination.
Temptation beckons. It’s hard not to notice the want in Dare’s eyes, the way he stares when he thinks Angel’s not watching. One wrong move might scare him away, but a work trip to exotic Bali might be the perfect place to let Dare explore his sexuality, with none to be the wiser. But their “friends with benefits” pact has an expiration date, that just might sour their friendship.
This book was one of the first I read when I started on my MM romance journey. It was a favourite immediately and has remained so. This is the fourth time I have read Dare and Angel’s story but the first time I have read this new and extended shiny version.
Angel Luv is trying to put a band together confident they can be the next big thing. His one missing piece is a guitarist and when he sees Darius Stone aka Dare playing small gigs with his current band he knows he has found the one he needs. He is cocky and self assured when he offers Dare the chance to make his dreams come true he is also completely smitten by the sexy guitarist.
Dare lives for music. When the mysterious Angel Luv hands him an address and asks him to come and audition for his new band he figures it’s a no brainer. He hates his current band members and has nothing holding him back so he packs up and heads off for an audition that will change his life in more ways than he ever expected.
From the very start it becomes clear that this new band, The Dark Angels, is set to become successful and throw the members into the limelight.
Dare and Angel click immediately and become close friends. Angel is intoxicated by his new guitarist and can do nothing to stop the strong feelings he is developing. Dare feels an attraction to Angel but ties himself in knots about it as he has never even looked at another man and stands by his ‘I am straight’ mantra for most of the book. These feelings are intensified when the two men spend a month in Bali together writing songs.
The sexual tension ratchets higher and higher until the pair snap and do the worst thing possible. They agree to a ‘friends with benefits’ tryst for the time they are away. This allows Dare to examine and experience his new feelings and gives Angel exactly what he wants but with such strong emotions already involved this plan was bound to backfire! Even so, whilst getting it out of their systems for a few weeks there are some very hot encounters – the one by the pool is off the charts!!
Communication guys!! So much heartache could have been avoided if only one of them would have opened their mouth and said how they really felt. When a throwaway comment is overheard there is a feeling of hurt and betrayal but still neither of them is willing or able to speak and say how they really feel. The plane ride back to reality and real life is laced with hurt and anger and a little bit of desperation.
There is no going back for the two and once back in the studio with the rest of the band the tension is palpable. It will take weeks of heartache and a huge gesture to fix things but finally one of them starts working on how to make things right. The BIG gesture will happen on stage at the end of their concert, in front of thousands of people, and will change everything once again. This time forever!
Now I am sitting patiently waiting for the re-release of the rest of the series which a little birdy assures me will be soon
I would like to thank the publisher for providing me with the eARC of this title in exchange for my honest opinion.
