The Degan Incident Title: The Degan Incident

Author: Rob Colton

Publisher: Self Published

Rating: 4 of 5 Stars

Lonely spaceport worker Devin McSmith meets Bastian Drago, an exotic and beastly alien from the planet Dega, and begins an adventure that takes him to the stars and beyond.

While working at Earth’s Spaceport Prime, Devin McSmith meets Bastian Drago, an exotic and beastly alien from the planet Dega.

Devin and Bastian get to know each other and their relationship quickly heats up. Just as they begin to fall in love, Bastian disappears without a trace.

When Devin’s encounter with Bastian triggers a startling change in his body, he is taken captive and held in a top-secret research facility.

Will Bastian find Devin before it’s too late?

Teresa’s View:

I love space opera type stories; far-out there story lines are par for the course, and this one was no different. This story had a lot going on! It’s filled with adventure, intrigue, kidnapping, experimentation, space battles, and some inter-species sexy times. It also has love, family, and mpreg!

I happen to like mpreg. I find it interesting to see how the author accomplishes this feat. I’m not going to give anything away, but I was quite satisfied with this imagining of the process. I found it plausible in a science fiction world.

I liked the Degans as a species and the universe the story is set in. I found the descriptions of their home world to be a little humanized for an alien culture, but was willing to overlook it for the sake of the plot. I loved Bastian’s family and their reaction to Devin. I liked that Devin had a core strength to him despite his weaker stature.

There were a few places the story dragged for me, but overall I found it exciting and I devoured the book in a day. All in all, a good sci-fi romp!
