Blurb:

The only good predator is a dead one, as far as Joe Lowther is concerned.

That is until the day he shoots a wolf, only to watch the animal turn into a naked Callum Pope. Cal is being hunted by a group of humans who eradicate shifter packs for sport.

Joe makes a decision to help Cal and discovers a deeper connection with the young shifter. One which he’d like to explore. If they live that long.

Caroline’s View:

A new shifter series and let me tell you it was bloody fantastic!

The only good predator is a dead one, as far as Joe Lowther is concerned.

Joe has returned to his family ranch to help for a year to help his father whilst he is battling cancer. When he thinks he spies a wolf on the land he is determined to kill it quickly before it can get hold of any of the sheep. A few nights later his patience pays off and he shoots it out in the yard. Imagine his surprise when he looks to down to take the kill shot and instead of a wolf there is a naked man.

Cal is an omega wolf that is on the run after hunters ravaged his pack killing the alpha and betas. He is unsure where the rest of the pack are hiding or even whether they are still alive. As he recovers from his gunshot wound he doesn’t initially realise that he is having telepathic conversations with Joe and that can only mean one thing – he has found his mate.

As is often the case in shifters stories there is a little insta-love and I don’t mind that at all. Joe quickly adapts to the fact that werewolves walk among humans and he finds himself becoming very possessive of his new friend. So possessive that he refuses to let him leave the ranch and calls in an old friend for help when the hunters show up on his doorstep.

I found this quite a fun read and Joe and Cal were cute together using their new found telepathy for a bit of x-rated fun. It was a good start to a new series and it will be interesting to see what happens in the next book. I for one hope Joe’s dad gets better and I can’t wait to see what happens with the Sheriff.

One more thing! There is the mother of all cliff hangers!!
