UK Gay Romance Book Signing ~ Sunday Spotlight by Josie Goodreads with Giveaway

UK Gay Romance Book Signing:

The first UK Gay Romance Book Signing went off with a bang at the Railway Tavern pub just outside Liverpool Street station in London on Saturday 6th September. It was a resounding success.

Organised by Sue Brown and Amelia Edwards the idea behind the event was for authors and readers to get together, chat, buy books (not compulsory) and generally have a great time. Some authors were also going to read short excerpts from their books.

JL Merrow started the readings which took place in a small balcony above the bar. Running concurrently with the book signings below it was difficult at times to hear the readings but everyone was having too good a time to let it spoil things. Sue did try to take control with a shrill whistle (it really was deafening) and a bell, but I think even she gave up in the end in the face of all the chatter and laughter going on. There was a raffle for the Albert Kennedy Trust which raised over £211.12 and entertainer Dirk Caber made a surprise visit to the delight of everyone.

I got to meet old friends again like Sue, RJ Scott, Chris Quinton, Lisa Worrall, Clare London, JL Merrow, Josephine Myles (who looked radiant) Charlie Cochrane, KC Wells, and Aleksandr Voinov, to name just a few, plus new ones I’d only ever spoken to online like SA Meade, Faith Ashlin, Barbara Elsborg, Julie Bozza, Susan Mac Nicol and KJ Charles (who really tried to extol the virtue of giant rats….).

I left at the end of the day shattered and exhausted but happy, with sore feet and 13 shiny new books to find a home for. I took loads of photos to remember the day by and Sue said she hopes to repeat the event next spring so keep an eye out, there’s always room for more friends, and more books (although hubby would disagree with more books)
