Larry Kincaid isn’t ready to be a parent, but when his sister dies in an accident, he takes his nephew, Angus, into his home. The change throws Larry’s life into limbo until he meets Joshua Langdon.
To Joshua, Larry is a lion: growly and strong, but too proud to ask for help. Joshua gets past his defenses and finds a place in Larry and Angus’s family, but Larry’s pride gets in the way. Can they turn their holiday romance into a relationship that lasts into the New Year?
A story from the Dreamspinner Press 2013 Advent Calendar package “Heartwarming”.
My View – Story:
This story made me smile. It left me feeling happy and hopeful. Larry and Angus need love in their lives after death leaves them trying to make a new life together. Joshua provides that love. Angus accepts him easily and Uncle Larry is instantly attracted to him. The story is short and the relationship happens quickly, but it is not easy and is not instant love. Larry must let go of his hangups and figure out how to have a love life while still putting Angus first. There is just enough angst and emotional connection to make this short novella a satisfying read. This was a great way for me to get into the holiday spirit and the ending left me hopeful for a long term HEA.
My View – Narration:
This is my first time listening to K.C. Kelly. He had an easy to listen to voice and he portrayed the emotions well and his reading enhanced the telling of this story. I would listen to more of his works in the future.
I would like to thank the publisher for providing me with the audiobook of this title in exchange for my honest opinion.
