Hurricane Lauris tore through North Carolina, leaving devastation in her wake. When the Marines of Camp Lejeune respond with help and resources, Staff Sergeant Troy Matson immediately volunteers. His mission is to assist Sheriff’s Deputy Austin Delaney and his K9 partner, Decker, search for trapped survivors. Their mutual attraction is instant and intense, but all of the destruction leaves Troy conflicted. Austin proves to be a surprising source of comfort and understanding in Troy’s search for redemption, but returning to their daily lives might end what has only just started.
Austin & Troy is book 4 in the Storming Love collection. It centered around the recovery effort after Hurricane Lauris has destroyed parts of North Carolina. This story was well written and well developed and is my favorite so far. The lust between these men was a slow burn that led to some HOT moments.
I liked how the author seamlessly worked Troy’s past and his insecurities into the action of the present. There was very little need for dialogue to explain his story. For a short novella, the character history and development was on point. This was a smoothe read with lots of depth that kept me longing for more.
The author also created two MCs who just clicked from the get go, but without the instant love. Thier attraction was all lust with the suggestion that more could develope. In fact, the ending only hinted at a HEA but left it to the readers imagination(or maybe a sequel?).
The only thing that bothered me a bit was that there was a lot of unexplained military jargon. So if, like me, you are not familiar with it, you may be a little confused. However, this did not take away from my enjoyment of the story. I was still able to follow along and understand the character development and plot movement.
I would like to thank the publisher for providing me with the eARC of this title in exchange for my honest opinion.
