Welcome to Coconut Cove where you’ll always find oiled beach bodies, palm trees, tropical drinks, and plenty of drama!
Coconut Cove is the hottest new sensation to sweep the nation — a gay teen drama filled to the brim with hot stars and even hotter action. It’s catching the public’s attention and winning their hearts. But all the drama, heartache, and life lessons aren’t just for the characters on the screen. The fledgling actors behind the scenes have more than their fair share of love and catastrophes. They may only play teens on TV but when it comes to romance, these twenty-somethings still have lessons to learn.
From the scheming ex determined to cash in on a rising star, to the hunky high school crush resurrected from ancient history—from the nice guy with a naughty past, to the snarky diva with attitude—there’s plenty of scandalous hidden affairs and seriously sexy demons hiding in just about everyone’s closet on Coconut Cove.
You just have to be ready to drink it in. Bottoms up … or should we say off?
For me, episode 2 of the Coconut Cove series was all about characterization, about establishing patterns of behavior and internal motivation. The novella focused not only on the actors themselves, but their characters on the TV show as well. Reading this novella was like reading two stories at once. I was fascinated by the way the author presented the men and women in this story and how the character development actually pushed the plot line forward. Without giving the reader insight into each person’s life, this story would have fallen flat and been just another in a long line of short unremarkable old crush reunited stories.
For me, the love story took a back seat to the lives of the cast of Coconut Cove. It was well done and necessary for the overall enjoyable feel of the tale, but it was not the focus of my attention. I was drawn into the worlds, both the “real life” and the TV show. I wanted to know more about the characters themselves. I wanted to know why they acted as they did and why they thought the things they did. It was the human aspects that I connected with and that I want more of. I am looking forward to getting to know more of the actors and see them grow as individuals.
After episode 1, I was still debating on if I would continue through this series. Now after episode 2, I am more invested and looking forward to episode 3. This is shaping up to be a very fun and entertaining series.
I would like to thank the publisher for providing me with the eARC of this title in exchange for my honest opinion.
