Sometimes, in order to gain control, you need to hand it over to someone else.
Grant had made a deal. He would use his talent, and his sister, Kaylee, would get what she needed. What he didn’t count on though, was the deal turning sour. Picking up the pieces of the aftermath is more than he can handle, so he turns to the warlock who rescued him for help. He might actually get it, too, if the guy would just stop running.
If Nico had known the little omega he had found was going to turn out to be this much trouble, he might not have rescued him after all. The wolf asked for things he shouldn’t, surfaced long neglected instincts that Nico hadn’t felt in too long. The wolf pushed, refused to take no for an answer. Only problem was, once you opened the door to something like that, there was no turning back.
In Controlling His Illusion, the war between the guardians and Denzel continues. There is no action but there is new information learned about the participants. The reader learns more about Cole’s twin and the condition he is in. The reader also learns more of Denzel’s strategy. To be honest, the mating was interesting in this story, but the overall war progression is what held my interest. I want to know how things will end!
Nico and Grant’s mating is not instant like the others so far. There is magic at work and they are not sure they are truly mates until an outside magic user confirms it. Once they discover they are meant to be, things get HOT. Grants wolf takes over and we learn more about Nico. There is a bit of BDSM implications that crank the heat. I wish the author would have explored this side Nico a bit more.
Finally, I love how the author gives just a hint of the other guardian’s potential mates. She sure does know how to keep me on the edge of my seat. The guardians, once again, are crazy and mischievous. I loved the scene between Dante and Nico in the bar. I am hooked on this series and can’t wait for the next chapter.
I would like to thank the publisher for providing me with the eARC of this title in exchange for my honest opinion.
