Davis always leapt into a battle knowing his ability to heal would keep him safe. What will he do, though, when learns what it is really costing him?
Davis has fought the shadowkin on more occasions that he cares to think about and proudly bears the scars from each, garnering the title Supercat, from the other guardians for being damn near bulletproof. How can he forgive himself, though, when the terrible truth behind his unique ability to heal is uncovered?
Rowan has been lost, living his life in an ever-present fog to prevent an even worse fate. The only constant in his life is his one, the cougar shifter who draws him in and lights the way with his glowing amber eyes. He would give anything…suffer anything, to keep his one safe, even if his one doesn’t know it.
I have been hooked on this series since reading Delta Blues. There is just something about this world that has drawn me in and connected with me in a big way.
Fractured has done nothing but enhance my desire for the Preternatural Rescue Centre series. In this official first installment of the series proper, we finally learn the origins of the guardians and we are introduced to all 10. Ms. Cross is starting to give the reader more information about each type of guardian; powers, history, behaviors. I am eager for each guardian to get his mate and HEA. The guardians are crazy, funny, and a little off their rockers. It will be an interesting ride as this series grows.
Fractured focuses on Davis, the shifter guardian leader. He is a black cougar and appears to be indestructible. He meets his mate and discovers the origin of his indestructibility. I did not see that coming and what a heartbreaker that revelation was! Davis and Rowen are cute together and I am happy they sorted everything out, even if Davis will now need to be more careful of himself.
Finally, in this story, we get our first glimpse of Denzel the ruler of the shadowkin. We learn a little more about him and start to get an inkling of his motivations. He is the big bad who still has Cole’s mysterious twin in his grasp. I want to know more about this aspect of the series. Ms. Cross has written this well and is keeping me hanging! I am eager for the next story so that I can find out who will be mated next and learn more about the war against Denzel and the shadowkin. What will happen next?
I am really enjoying myself while reading this series. If you are a paranormal/fantasy fan, pick this one up.
I would like to thank the publisher for providing me with the eARC of this title in exchange for my honest opinion.
