Will and Scott are now out and proud and living together in Scott’s tiny house. So everything is perfect, right? Wrong…
Scott has a new partner, a new male partner, and Will is not happy about that at all.
A sadistic serial killer is at large, torturing his way through the gay community, but Will and Scott have no leads.
And one of the residents of Laurel Heights has been arrested for murder.
So I first wrote my review of Laurel Heights 2 directly upon finishing the title. Which was only hours after I finished reading Laurel Heights. I had a great review for you. The entire story was fresh on my mind. etc, etc… Then I moved on to other books. I think I have read about 6 or 7 books since finishing the two Laurel Heights books. Unfortunately, I didn’t upload my review immediately and thanks to a series of mistakes and a shoddy Internet connection, that original review is no more. I will try to recreate what I said to the best of my ability, but let’s face it, it is never as good the second time around.
If you read my review of Laurel Heights, you will know that I loved the chemistry Will and Scott had together. Whether they were fighting or fucking, they were on fire together. That fire did not wane in the slightest in Laurel Heights 2. I love series that follow the same couple into more adventures. LH2 was especially necessary because the first book left us with a few unanswered questions, a quite a cliffhanger. I highly recommend you read these two books in order.
When an author takes the chance to write a sequel about a much-loved couple, they run the risk of not living up to the expectations of the reader. Worrall has avoided that pitfall with Laurel Heights 2. Scott and Will are still Scott and Will. The residents of Laurel Heights are still the residence of Laurel Heights. We lost Grace from the first book, but her exit made way for Scott to get a new partner, Kelly. Which led to some interesting scenes between Will & Scott, Will & Kelly, and Kelly & Scott. I think Kelly helped cement in the readers mind that Scott & Will are in it for the long haul. They aren’t just a fire that will burn out as quick as it ignited.
While LH2 does take the opportunity to tie up loose ends, it doesn’t just tell the same story again. The main mystery is completely new for the foursome. We get to learn about Kelly and their captain, Hall, along the way. We also get to see Scott and Will doing what they do best… solving crimes. I would be interested to learn a bit more about Kelly and would love to see our boys back again.
I would like to thank the author for providing me with the eARC of this title in exchange for my honest opinion.
