Spotlight on Authors ~ Friday GRL Update by Christine with Giveaway #TeamPrismGRL

Kaje Harper, Kindle Alexander, and LC Chase
Paisley and I attended a wonderful Q&A session featuring Kaje Harper, Kindle Alexander (yes, that’s two authors!), and LC Chase. They shared their writing styles, backgrounds and histories, and recommendations with us and helped us to know them a little better.

Kaje began writing in the m/m genre in 2011 and has enjoyed bringing both adult and YA romances to her readers. She said that she can be rather erratic in her writing, some days writing thousands of words and others, and others, nothing at all. She enjoys that spontaneity, never really plotting out or planning a story in advance, but rather allowing it to grow on its own.  When asked what her recommendation would be to a reader new to her work, she suggested Into Deep Waters, which is a solid historical romance set during World War II. It is a favorite era of hers, and she enjoyed doing the research, keeping the story and characters as real as possible.

Kindle Alexander is the pen name for two authors whose partnership began in fanfic and role playing on Facebook. First published in 2011, they love the opportunity to create something collaborative, easing the sometimes lonely work of being an author with a great deal of conversation and interaction. They said that their writing styles complement each other so well, that is difficult for them to tell where one author ends and another begins when reading their work. They enjoy that approach to creating “one voice.” They suggested that new readers to their books might enjoy starting with Always, which they feel took their writing to a new level.

LC Chase has always been an artist, but she didn’t start doing artwork for covers until after she became a writer. When asked how she became a cover artist, she told us that she entered a contest to create a cover for a Josh Lanyon book, won, and began to get requests from other authors to do their covers, as well. She was able to create a portfolio soon thereafter and has been doing covers ever since. She also began writing in 2011 and has enjoyed both professions of author and cover artist. She recommended her book  Long, Tall Drink as a good place to start if someone is new to her work.

Thank you to Kaje, Kindle, and LC for a fun and informative session.

  3. It was a great session, and all the authors were just wonderful! When I get my bearings and can engage my brain a bit better, I will write up a summary post with as many goodies as you can stuff into a post without it exploding! 🙂
