Blurb:

Short-tempered, arrogant heart surgeon Jason Garcia grew up wanting a close-knit family, but believes he ruined those dreams when he broke up his marriage. The benefit of divorce is having as much random sex as he wants, and it’s a benefit Jason is exploiting when he meets a sweet, shy man at a bar and convinces him to go home for a no-strings-attached night of fun.

Eight years living in Las Vegas hasn’t dimmed Abe Green’s optimism, earnestness, or desire to find the one. When a sexy man with lonely eyes propositions him, Abe decides to give himself a birthday present—one night of spontaneous fun with no thoughts of the future. But one night turns into two and then three, and Abe realizes his heart is involved.

For the first time, Abe feels safe enough with someone he respects and adores to let go of his inhibitions in the bedroom. If Jason can get past his own inhibitions and open his heart and his life to Abe, he might finally find the family he craves.

Caroline’s View:

Jason Garcia is a bad tempered heart surgeon that had planned out his future to include the family and white picket fence. He had the wife, along came the two children but his constant cheating with men put an end to his marriage. He is still very good friends with his ex wife, he doesn’t see much of his children and his relationships last long enough to get off and get out. He is the master of bar hopping and hook ups.

Abe Green moved to the city nearly a decade ago and although he hasn’t found his prince charming he is convinced he is out there and wants nothing less than his happily ever after with Mr Right. He is a school teacher, has a good group of friends and prefers nights in to nights out.

When Jason finishes a stressful day at work and heads to a local bar to pick up some entertainment for the night he runs into the angelic looking Abe and they spend a hot together. One night stands are not Abe’s thing but as it was his birthday he gave himself a free pass. When they bump into each other again a few weeks later they both figure they know what they are getting and spend another night together.

When they get together a third time it seems they both need to re-evaluate what this ‘thing’ they are doing with each other is. Jason has never given any thought to two men being able to be married and monogamous and when a family member raises the subject it throws him for a loop. Abe starts to quietly wonder whether Jason is the one he has been waiting for but realises that making Jason see that might be the hardest job in the world.

For a man approaching 40 Jason is not very clued in on a lot of things and Abe who is 10 years younger plays clever and manipulates things in a harmless way. The fact that Abe moved in without Jason even realising was hilarious. Abe may have been an angel to look at but when the bedroom door closed he was a little devil and had Jason wrapped round his little finger!
There are a few bumps along the way the biggest of which is Jason’s sons behaviour along with the fear of introducing a male partner to his children but on the whole this was a pretty angst free book, with two great MC’s who I was rooting for right from the start.
