The Old Fashioned: Wallbanger 2: Jay and Harvey (CockTails Book 5)

This is book five in the CockTails series and continues the story for Jay Lincoln and Harvey Grace from The Wallbanger (CockTails #1).

Dr. Harvey Grace has never been happier in a relationship. His younger lover, Jay Lincoln, owns The Other Team bar and grill, despite the disparity in their ages and occupations, they have an all-consuming passion for each other.

But doubts creep in easily when Jay’s handsome ex-lover resurfaces. Not to mention Harvey’s ex is still on the scene, too. Can two men hovering on the edge of a future together conquer the past’s hold on their hearts—and risk it all for a real shot at love?

The Hurricane: Hot Toddy 2: Tucker and Todd (CockTails Book 6)

This is book six in the CockTails series and continues the story for Tucker Thompson and Todd Nelson from The Hot Toddy (CockTails #2).

Things have been smooth sailing for Tucker Thompson and Todd Nelson, once foster brothers, then best friends, and more recently lovers. Almost too smooth. When Todd’s mother reappears in his life, his old fears return, creating a rift between the two men. Tucker doesn’t understand why Todd is pushing him away, especially when he can see that his boyfriend needs him now more than ever. Todd knows what his actions are doing to relationship, but he doesn’t know how to stop hurting Tuck.

Can Todd come to grips with his past, and can he find his way back to Tucker before it’s too late?

The Sparkler: Gin Rickey 2: Alex and Ricky (CockTails Book 7)

This is book seven in the CockTails series and continues the story for Alex Michaels and Ricky McNeil from The Gin Rickey (CockTails #3).

Ricky McNeil doesn’t do relationships, especially with hot, rich dudes like Alex Michaels. No, he and Alex find mutual and intense satisfaction together–and if Ricky thinks about Alex too often and wants him too much … that doesn’t mean anything. Right?

Alex wants Ricky day and night, but figures asking for an exclusive relationship with the sexy, tattooed man is the best way to scare him off. Even so, Alex can’t resist inviting Ricky to his parents’ home for a holiday barbecue. No one’s more surprised than Alex when Ricky says yes.

Will attending a family event as a couple bring them closer together … or be the end of everything between them?

Brandilyn’s View:

A while ago I reviewed Books 1-3 in the Cock & Tails series of short novellas from Renee George. I remember saying in that review that I was looking forward to the sequels to each of those stories.
Well, here are those much-awaited sequels. Each story picks up a few months after their predecessors left off. As with the original series, they can be read without each other, though I don’t recommend reading them without their mates.

A little background. Each couple has at least one partner that works at The Other Team, a sports bar owned by Jay of Wallbanger fame. It isn’t a gay bar, but an awful lot of the employees certainly are. These are all fun and hot stories. They could use a line editor or two, but if you can look passed that, they are a good time.

Please note: The following reviews likely contain some spoilerish information for the first three stories in the Cock & Tails series.

Wallbanger #2 – The Old Fashioned (Cock & Tails #5)

Wallbanger is an age and means gap romance. We left we left Harvey and Jay they had just begun dating. In this installment we have to deal with not only each of their insecurities about how they feel they are less than their partner, we also have some exes with which to deal. In this case, Jay’s ex shows up. Jack, said ex, is everything Harvey feels Jay will want… namely closer to his age. Jay for his part is dealing with some insecurities about his financial situation and his lack of education, as compared to the venerable doctor. One place neither of them seem to have any worries is the bedroom.

Old Fashioned is a hot little tale of the continuing romance between these two. They deal with some everyday jealousies and insecurities, but in the end they do it together. I am not entirely sure why Harvey’s ex is discussed between the couple but Jack’s presence is not. Maybe that will be further explained in Wallbanger #3.

Hot Toddy #2 – The Hurricane (Cock & Tails #6)

Hot Toddy is a friends-to-lovers romance pairing Tucker and Todd, former foster brothers and best friends. In The Hurricane, they hit their first rough patch. This time, the rough patch comes in the form of Todd’s estranged mother. Tucker, having grown up with an abusive mother whose body he found in a pool of blood, he doesn’t know how to handle this new edition to Todd’s life. He is partially fearful for Todd’s safety and partially scared for his place in Todd’s life.

Tucker acts out in the one way he knows will get Todd’s attention, but regrets it almost immediately. As with the Old Fashion, in the end they move forward together. The Hurricane is almost too perfect of an ending, but for these two former foster kids, maybe they deserve a little happily ever after handed to them tied with a bow.

The Gin Rickey #2 – Sparkler (Cock & Tails #7)

Gin Rickey pairs Rickey, an Irish immigrant, med student, and bad boy with Alex, a masters student who grew up with a silver spoon. They aren’t boyfriends. Neither of them has time for that, but to say they are merely fuck-buddies would be disingenuous. Of course, neither of them want to see that there may just be more to the relationship.

Rickey’s insecurities are at the center of the conflict this time. Rickey thinks he is just a phase for Alex. When Alex invites him home to “meet the parents” they are both shocked that Rickey says yes. What comes next will either pull them together or drive them apart.
