Peckers: Book Two
World-renowned avian vet Sebastian Grant is so sure bird shifters aren’t real that even when an unruly cockatoo named Louis ends up naked in his arms, it’s difficult for him to admit he’s not imagining it. Louis might be everything Sebastian has been looking for in a partner—funny, confident, sexy, and genuine—but there’s one major problem: Louis is a captive in a gilded cage. With the help of Simon, his blue jay partner, Jay, and the expanding team of Undercover Peckers, Sebastian finds out he’s willing to do anything to make sure Louis is able to fly free and cock strut to his heart’s content.
This is one of the most unique series I have read in some time. The intro at the start of the novella says it all. This world is “sinful and ridiculous.” Please do not pick up this series unless you are looking for something utterly absurd and comical. This series is in no way to be taken seriously or to be read looking for realistic parallels.
Cockstrut is book 2 in the Pecker series by Jacques N. Hoff (and yes I realize I am late to the game, but I just figured out the name…snickers.) This book was too cute for words. I love Louis and his need to dance. I love that he sees his human side as “other” instead of the normal shifter mentality of the animal being the “other.” Simon and Jay reappear with their ever entertaining bird pun wars and I chuckled my way through this entire story.
Finally, I love that such a serious character like Sebastian cannot help but be drawn into the comedy that is Undercover Peckers. This was such a fun, short read. It carried things nicely from book 1 and easily sets things up for book three. Australia here we come! This is a great series for when you need something mindless to escape from real life. Pick this one up, you will not regret the laughter.
I would like to thank the publisher for providing me with the eARC of this title in exchange for my honest opinion.
