Physician Remy Marshall has two loves: Emergency Medicine and running. Work doesn’t leave much time to meet guys, and most seem more interested in his bank account than him. With a week off to train for a marathon, Remy plans to make the most of his precious vacation. The last thing he needs is a distraction.
Jamie Sutton is new to the area. He hopes to make a fresh start after leaving an abusive relationship with an orthopedic surgeon. He’s got a new job as a massage therapist and wants to meet some nice guys. Against his better judgment, Jamie decides the best way to meet a cute rollerblader he’s seen in the park is on wheels.
With attention on his watch and not where he’s going, Remy crashes into Jamie and fractures the first-time rollerblader’s ankle. Jamie has no one to help him after the injury; Remy proposes Jamie stay with him. Jamie is reluctant, but it’s a better option than staying with the odd guy in the neighboring motel room. As the two get acquainted, Jamie’s past comes calling. Remy discovers the prize he really wants isn’t a medal in a marathon, but the man right in front of him.
I enjoyed Crash Pad by Whitley Gray for what it was. A sweet, quick romance that starts with a painful meet-cute and ends with a happily ever after.
Jamie is rollerblading in hopes of meeting a specific cute guy at the park. Remy is running to train for his next marathon. When their worlds collide, quite literally, a romance is born. Okay, it isn’t that simple. First of all, Remy isn’t “the” cute guy whose eye Jamie is trying to catch. Secondly, Jamie might just have a bit of a painful past which he is trying to escape. Thirdly, Remy is just being nice and making up for injuring poor Jamie… right?
This is a romance so, of course, all their notions of the past, present, and future are turned on their ears. When it becomes clear to Remy that Jamie has no one to take care of him, Remy takes him in. Soon it is apparent there is more than a boarder / good samaritan thing going. Add in a little twist of fate that just might connect these two more closely than they would ever imagine, and it makes for two hot men that simply must be together.
Remy and Jamie make a cute, and hot, couple. If you need a good comfort read with a convalescing hero, hot doctor, and pasts they both want to escape, pick up Crash Pad.
I would like to thank the publisher for providing me with the eARC of this title in exchange for my honest opinion.
